Actually a few years ago on Howard Stern I heard a guy who practically made a living allowing residents practice rectal exams on him - he said he could make a few thousand dollars a month but admitted that his ass would get rather sore. Awk x 1000. |

what? big deal. It's not like brain surgery; we practice on patients. Get it wrong and theres bits of brain everywhere and a dead patient - too bad. A practice digital rectal examination? - YOU MONSTERS THESE ARE PEOPLE!!!! |

Certain hospitals are specifically learning hospitals and so if you check into one, you're usually informed automatically that you would be consenting to have your case proceeded upon with doctors who are learning. |

Every health professional has to have a first time performing any procedure on a patient. Or do you want a doctor that's been putting their fingers in peoples' butts his or her ENTIRE LIFE doing your rectal exam? |

Uhhhh, that's not how it works. You don't get into med school by partying all the time and you don't stay in med school by partying all the time. Med school standards are incredibly high and most people wouldn't last a week.

All doctors practice anything on real patients, with the exception of cutting some one open mind you. Even child birth can be attended by learning doctors and nurses if consent is given and there is an actual doctor present.
Taking blood and basic gynecological exams can also be attended by a learning doctor.
If I am given a chance to help some one learn medicine by allowing them to attend one of my exams, I will say yes. We need more good doctors running around. |
