Tuesday, June 15, 2010 1:03:46 PM Lol Americans really are like a TV show filmed in front a live studio audience. When stuff like that happens in Europe you wouldn't hear anyone until but some clapping and cheering after the parts of each act. Here you always keep here "woooo" "oeeee" "aaaa". Hysterical :p |

Monday, June 14, 2010 11:58:46 PM Cool to watch, but sad that tax dollars go to hundreds of these teams worldwide when they could be, you know, doing something important. |

Sunday, June 13, 2010 9:42:58 PM I did this in Air Force ROTC, its not as difficult as it looks (especially since you train for it every day). When everybody does it flawlessly (which they do), you have to judge the creativeness of the routine, which this one was not very. I judged a couple JROTC competitions where high schoolers did better than this. Navy needs to step it up, Watch the Marines for a good show. @starczar Unlike some European countries, America has a free market, the government spending has little to do with the economy (though with the current regime, unfortunately, that's quickly changing). Military and infrastructure are two major spending options. |

Sunday, June 13, 2010 5:05:34 PM I'm surprised how many people (a) don't understand the military use of this sort of thing (b) don't understand the military use of tradition and (c) think that every person in every branch of military service should be fighting 24/7. |

Sunday, June 13, 2010 4:56:11 PM other countries have soccer. we have SWORDCHUCKING We have swordchucking too, although I think our best military non-combat competition was the field gun race. It's a shame they stopped it in 1999, because it was awesome. |

Sunday, June 13, 2010 3:27:46 PM Very useful in a sea battle. Glad you guys spend 607 BILLION a year on your armed forces, while your economy goes down the tubes, dragging everyone with it. Good thinking. |

Sunday, June 13, 2010 2:57:52 PM Back when I did this, we had to do 2-4 hours a day, and weren't ready for competition or ceremony until the second year. You got to do the harder aspects, such as the hatchet-toss and the meat-grinder after about year four. Much respect to the Navy guys. |

Sunday, June 13, 2010 12:38:27 PM @screwzlooose yeah, that's colorguard, like in a high school marching band. They twirl rifles like them, they just don't have bayonettes so they are able to do more dancework and tosses |

Sunday, June 13, 2010 10:30:28 AM if you knew how many hours of practice these guys do, with the team and on their own WHILE still performing duties as soldiers... insane. drill always rocked, but the time involved was massive. respect. |

Sunday, June 13, 2010 9:52:07 AM @screwzlooose I agree its kind of like baton twirlers, but they're not supposed to be threatening. A drill team is more of a test of discipline and skill. |

Sunday, June 13, 2010 9:33:11 AM @screwzlooose The colorguards (the people with the flags/rifles/sabers/batons/whatevers) do spin rifle. It's the same exact technique as these guys, except they're like, 25 times more badass and guards don't spin actual, working FREAKING bayonets. |
