Sunday, June 13, 2010 8:59:08 PM This reminded me of the episode of House I watched earlier, where House made a snapping beat of the people in Africa dying of TB every 4 minutes. |

Sunday, June 13, 2010 11:53:56 AM @kissmybim I dunno about it. 3 billion people illiterate? That's 1/2 assuming 6 billion people on the planet. And even in places like sub-saharan Africa literacy rates are ~30% and they don't nearly have as many people as India (66%) and China (93%). Still there's alot of illiterate people, but they probably counted young children as illiterate (not 'adult' literacy rates). Yes I bothered to look these up on the WHO website. Yes I am a nerd. In any case, the point is appreciate what you have. So let's all do that. |

Saturday, June 12, 2010 9:35:43 PM Of course, I'm not comparing my struggles with the poor and diseased, but giving an example of what causes distress in life even after all other needs are met. |

Saturday, June 12, 2010 9:34:42 PM Maslow's Heirarchy of Needs ensures that no one will ever be happy. Once one need is met, another arises. Try living with the crushing pressure of making something of yourself before your aging parents die disappointed that their golden child never made anything of himself. That almost felt good getting that out there. |

Saturday, June 12, 2010 7:37:43 PM so what? who cares? I didn't choose to be born into a life where I don't suffer, and I certainly was not put into a life where I can help those who do suffer. So whats the point? |

Saturday, June 12, 2010 6:26:12 PM generally things like this make people with depression feel worse, because it just makes them feel bad for FEELING BAD, even though it isn't their fault they feel bad in the first place because it's a chemical imbalance.. it's not like people are unhappy because they choose to be, and when you tell them they're being an ungrateful little pooe for it, it just makes it worse. |
