actually there is a standard, y'know.... they can't just half-ass it...'s kinda the law. In the past 4 years I've had to go to the hospital6 times for various reasons. 2nd year uni I sliced my hand open and didn't have to deal/worry about filling out anything or waiting x number of hours... just went and got it stitched up...then 2 months later got 2nd degree burns on the same hand and was in and out in under an hour... even last summer when I got my tonsils out I got referred and in the OR in a week |

Why do people keep saying Canada has socialized healthcare? We don't, we're not communists, lol. It's called universal healthcare.
Universal healthcare is socialized. If not, then do explain the difference. |

The poor are entitled to the same care as the rich.
That sucks, because now there's little to no incentive for the provider to be efficient. Like I said before, nothing is free. In order for the government to give you something, they first have to take something from someone else. How much did your society really pay? (the actual cost is irrelevant) What incentive do you have to look for the cheapest price?
With the exception of charity, people not paying out of pocket are cribbing society. It's a shame liberals are unable to comprehend economics. |

Why do people keep saying Canada has socialized healthcare? We don't, we're not communists, lol. It's called universal healthcare. Plus there are private hospitals if you want to pay for service but doctors, hospitals, etc are free to everyone at anytime and you can always choose/switch family doctors whenever you want.
I found the pic kinda boring, that's dry Canadian humour for ya!

I could get cancer repeatedly for the rest of my life, or I could have an organ transplant, or maybe loose a limb or two in an accident. Or maybe all three. I wouldn't loose my house to pay for it. I wouldn't have any health insurance premiums to go up. The poor are entitled to the same care as the rich.
America is the only first world country with such a backwards health system. You must be so proud.

I am American. Born and raised. The picture did not offend me, but it did make me laugh because its true. Do I want free healthcare though, hell no!! Free healthcare funds come from my paycheck so in my book, America won that one. |

there is no way socialized healthcare is a bad thing. there are private hospitals in canada where you can pay for quicker procedures, otherwise everything is free.
If that’s true then how are you going to stop people from taking more than they give without creating shortages? As for the providers, what incentives are there, that are better than “survival of the fittest”, when you have little to no competition to be efficient?

Sandbanks, Sauble, Wasaga, Grand Bend are all beautiful. And those are just ones that are driving distance from my house (southern ontario). We have awesome beaches!"
But have you ever seen Panama City beach Florida? Or Destin Florida? those are beautiful beaches hopefully the oil wont destroy them |

Duffy mate, you think that's bad? You should see how we non-American english speakers spell things like Palaeontology and Archaeology. Extra A's all over the shop. And don't even TALK to me about "Aluminium" and "Sulphur"!
