Wednesday, June 09, 2010 3:50:53 PM Yeah I think that's the Smithsonian or some other science museum's bird collection. I had the pleasure of seeing the bird and fish collection they keep stored. Never thought I'd get to actually touch one of those deep sea angler fish. |

Monday, June 07, 2010 12:11:26 AM These parrots are no more. They have ceased to be! They've expired and gone to meet their maker! They are stiffs! Bereft of life, they rest in peace. If you hadn't put them in boxes they'd be pushing up the daisies! Their metabolic processes are now history! They're off the twig! They've kicked the bucket, they've shuffled off the mortal coil, run down the curtain and joined the bleedin' choir invisibile! THESE ARE EX-PARROTS! |

Sunday, June 06, 2010 11:20:59 AM "Oh wow. Look at them all! I see scarlet macaws, blue and gold macaws, yellow-crowned amazons, eclectus parrots, roosteratoos...the woman in the foreground has her hands on a drawer full of sun conures. But the one that really gets my attention is the drawer of four yellow and green birds that is front and center at the bottom of the pic. Carolina parakeets!" Wow. One just has to wonder how many thousands of dollars that collection would be alive. Of course, the Carolina Parakeets alone would be thousands or tens of thousands of dollars, I'd bet, since zoos and private keepers alike would absolutely kill for the chance to recover that species. They were only American parrot, now long extinct. :( |
