Saturday, May 29, 2010 10:21:44 PM Wow, the studio spends more on advertising the film than actually shooting it. |

Saturday, May 29, 2010 3:36:43 PM @SuperSmash: you appear to have not seen a pirate movie since the 90's. 1080p telesynced movies FTW. The way I see it is this: I have little money, The movie industry has muchos money, therefore I take what I want and spit on their theiving graves. I might go to a cinema more often if popcorn and a drink didn't cost £10 ($15). I mean jesus christ, that is rediculous! AND nowadays they do BAG SEARCHES so you can't bring in outside food! The movie industry needs to move into the 21st century, with cheap to buy downloadable movies, and accessible services. Same goes for the music industry, although at least there making progress! Services like spotify are the way forward. As far as the music industry goes, they'd be better off distibuting recorded music for free, and instead investing in creating a culture of LIVE music viewing. The same goes for the movie industry, distribute films for free and |

Saturday, May 29, 2010 8:13:58 AM The breakdown of the movie ticket is inaccurate. It's actually different based on the studio that produces the movie. Warner Bros usually wants 80% of the admission price the first few weeks, then it goes down about 10% each week after that. I also remember back when one of the last Star Wars movies came out (Not Clone Wars) LucasFilms wanted 100% of the ticket profit for 3 weeks, then he dropped it to 90% for the fourth week. |

Saturday, May 29, 2010 2:32:43 AM SuperSmash - I watched some movies that weren't out in cinemas here yet (Repo Men, I watched it a month or two before cinema release), and it was actually pretty good quality. As well as Crazies. There are some places that give amazing quality stuff. |

Friday, May 28, 2010 11:10:31 PM Oh, sry I didn't see you bursting a vein Mr.SuperSmash. Well sir, to be fair you MUST be aware that DVD rips look FANTASTIC. Shure, I gotta wait a bit until it goes out on DVD but I don't mind. Seriously, half the movies or more in the theaters are not worth the 12ish dollars I spend when I DO go for overpriced popcorn and one worthwhile movie. I believe in free media and I'll brag all I want ladies and gentlemen. ;) |

Friday, May 28, 2010 11:54:38 AM Oh, and one of the most important facts of all: A movie must make at least 3 times its budget in order to pay back all its investors and still be considered profitable. |

Friday, May 28, 2010 11:50:55 AM The thing about division of profits between theaters and studios is technically incorrect. The week the movie comes out, the studio makes huge profits compared to the theater, and as the weeks progress, the theater begins to receive a larger and larger percentage of the profits. It's not fixed at one percentage and the companies are going to see different levels of profit based on whether the movie was heavily hyped and turned out bad, out of nowhere and became a word of mouth, or some mix of the two. This was probably an average, but it should be clarified. |

Friday, May 28, 2010 11:17:50 AM lol. Drive ins. I love drive-in movies, actually. Used to pull the seats down on my family's Honda and watch from the trunk. You can talk, drink alcahol, sleep, eat pretty much anything you can sneak in... I love it! |
