Don't read what I write and I will continue to not give a crap about your existence. We'll live in bliss ignorant of each other.

Okay you dratwits.
Stop arguing like little children.
Do any of us give a poo about government or food stamps?
No, we don't.
All you are doing by arguing is pissing everybody off with your walls of text. Nobody cares. People come to this site to be entertained, not look at bullshit political opinions.
It's called I-Am-Bored, not I-Want-To-Bitch-and-Moan.
So FUCK you and your childish arguing. The drating arguing is the reason I never come here anymore.
That is all.

@DickenMchunt i uderstand your point and yes i understand what u mean wanting to buy something to treat yourself everynow and then i fully agree. what i ment is when i see people having $1000 dollar cards and buyin things like "lobster, steak, cookies, soda, CANDY" and alot of it and not just for them for their friends too! and i am not reffering to the people who have a job or are honestly looking for work. those people deserve it. what i AM reffering to is those lazy ass people who dont have a job and dont look and use any excuse to not get one. when i worked at foodlion we recently closed down and you everyone was asking what we were going to do we said idk. u no what one guy said to me .. forget about it file for unemployment get foodstamps have a vacation. and that is what in my opinion those lazy asses are thinking. i dont think my tax money shold be payin for those who dont want to contribute to society and then want to make an ass of themselves when they do get a hand

@ Ericka225

And if you WERE able to get food stamps you're saying that you wouldn't want access to those things? If I was in that situation those are things that i would want made available to me. I understand that you're saying that should be grateful for what they do get and I agree- when I worked in a grocery store the people on food stamps always tried to get things that they couldn't get and got pissed at me when they wouldn't ring up. At the same time I can imagine being in that situation and having to eat the SAME poo day after day after day and wanting something else.

I think it's more important to raise the bottom line standards in our country because we're only as good as the worst of us, and we're only as well-off as the most unfortunate of us.

I just want to point out that not everyone on food stamps is trying to live off the state because they WANT to. If I could, I would walk up to the SRS tomorrow and tell them to close my case. But the reality is I can't. My husband works a minimum wage job that barely gives him 15 hours a week and I'm in college trying to make things better for our little girl. Also I agree with therach, there is NOTHING wrong with buying a little treat once in a while after you make sure you have what is important.

My parents don't have a job(we've been here for ~9 months), we get food stamps. I think it's $100 or so a month. Our fridge is FULL and we have a lot of leftover money from the stamps. $100 per month is more than enough for us.

@manualdrivag, I don't know what you're talking about, since usually I have 3 types of frozen Mexican food in my fridge. It's probably harsher in the Eastern side, I'm in California. Join the West side, we have food.

@therach, and all you other people defending yourselvs for buying "essentials" as you put it. you should be thankfull that the government is even giving you money let alone feel your entitled to live spend it how you please. I used to work for foodlion and i had my share of a-hole customers but the foodstamp ones were the worse they wanted to complain when they couldnt buy rotiss chicken and when they had to pay 3cent for a cupon they used. not to mention the crap they bout with it and the crap they bought for their friends. Y should you get to buy candies, lobster, crab, steak with money the govenments giving you when i cant offord to buy any of that crap with my own hard earned money.. o n ps i even applied for stamps myself cus me and my boyfriend didnt have enough money to buy food at the end of the money when we both worked..cus i had a ins. payment they didnt count an expence.. they said we made too much money they didnt give us sh**.. so u no jus be thankful for what the

@NerdRage: Really? So, even though I make sure my son eats healthy and heartily I should never be allowed to buy him a small bag of Doritoes just because we've fallen in a crap hole and ended up on government assistance? I call shenanigans. As long as the essentials (dairy, bread, fruits, veggies, etc. etc.) are bought FIRST, I think "luxuries" damn well should be allowed. What should be done is monitoring. Just because some idiot parent has an obese child due to their diet, doesn't mean the rest of the people on aide should be punished for it. My son sees other kiddoes getting these "luxuries" every day and I'll be darned if he can't have one every once and a while just because someone else lives in "I don't live in reality" land.

Let me ask you high and mighty people what would you do if you worked 40 hours a week bringing home roughly 450 dollars each week. Your rent is 1250 a month and you have electric and insurance to pay for...Plus gas and other little things that are needed. Now because of the amount you make and the amount you spend on your rent and such you have nothing left for food. SO you go and apply for foodstamps and they give you 125dollars per month for food. Tell me how much can you really buy with that? Frozen burritos run about 1.25 a piece so if your lucky you could have 3 burritos a day for every day of the month. Its not good eating but at least you won't starve. If you have never been in someone elses shoes then don't drating tell them how to tie em.

you would be surprised at what VA let's those on EBT purchase. Slurpees, monster beverages, those little bug juices that are like 1.20 at the store, and any non-hot packaged edible (candy, hostess cakes, chips, ice cream) all of these things are what i would consider "luxury" foods. it should be limited to bread, milk, and essential dairy, breakfast and lunch and dinner items, no sweets or sugary beverages .

That's what you get when you ask a guy on the street corner if he's got any 'organic tomatoes' for sale. At least they made you happy though

eating healthy doesn't automatically mean "organic"... "Organic" is a scam. I eat healthy and I do not, and will not, buy anything that claims to be organic. It needlessly lowers the food production possible on an acre of land all so yuppies can feel better about themselves

Sorry Davymid. Florida's frost helped put the spike in tomatoes. Not too sure of where yours come from but know that everyone who enjoys tomatoes is feeling it. $2.00lb here (just bought some last night).

I'm not sure where you are shopping, but over here it's much cheap to buy junk food. Just look at potato chips vs any "organic" chip

jamie76: He probably just found an image online and used Microsoft Paint to edit it. And as to the healthy eating bit, the unhealthy food is cheaper, so he probably has to resort to it while on food stamps. Haven't you heard that college students eat ramen noodles? Who would intentionally eat ramen noodles if they could afford better? :P
