This is exactly how the Back to the Future ride at Univerql worked. However, this solution here has one problem, you can see the real horizon end everything else. To work perfectly, you have to be enclosed in a box.

Btw people, is is also how real flight trainers work.

Not unrealistic. Poster just has no concept of G-forces...

it may look unrealistic but think of it in terms of g-forces on your body, heavy acceleration you'd feel as if you were pushed back in your seat

Not really unrealistic. The tilting up or down is to force your body back against the seat or forward towards the screen to simulate speeding up or slowing down. I sooo want one.

Yes, but can it be used as a masterbatory device?

You are still looking at the screen the whole time so the movements are simulating accel. and braking. Its probably the most awesome thing in the world.

Meh, be easier to make an indy car one, just place books under one side of your chair while playing.

The chair movements simply simulate (probably not at full strength) the G forces felt by the F1 driver. It has nothing to do with the movement of the car. Think about it: the screen always stays at the same spot with respect to the driver.

I'd hate to see what it does when he crashes.

There we go, finally someone who got it.

Just imagine how awesome this would be to good racing games, say Forza, racing some of the more mediocre cars (read: not cars that can generate a pull of more than 1g in any direction). =D

Words car hardly express how much I want to try that!

The pressure from the chair pushes against your body while moving. The same thing happens in vehicles.

The movements arent supposed to be the movements of the car, they are there to give a sense of the G forces, when he accelerates it tips back so he is pulled back into his seat, when he brakes he is tilted forward so he is thrown forward in his chair as if he just went through deceleration. Same for the corners though he can only experience 1G at the most in the chair and F1 cars would probably pull 4G upwards.

Well, it seems unrealistic because the movements have to be exaggerated to provide the same sensation as being in a formula 1 car. The machine is stationary, so it has to compensate for the sensation.

Vapor13 - "Is this Gran Turismo? I know a lot of the realistic racing games look alike these days but that sure looks like the Gran Turismo speedometer at the bottom. I'd love to play GT in a sim like that."

It's not Gran Turismo. Everything's in the wrong place and that's not a track I recognise (I'm a GT nerd). But yes, that would be SUPER awesome!!

Ah, Sim Rigs. Moving around to simulate the forces put on you. Looks like huge fun!

A journalist tried the much more advanced, uber-expensive 'rig that Formula 1 types actually use. His eyes went funny. He got real motion sickness.

Well the tilting backwards and forwards is just simply to provide the sensation of being pushed into or out of your seat from acceleration.
