I often tend to read people comments and start letting my brain do the typing if I see something that I can just rave upon. I wouldn't say every country has "<country> envy" syndrome. Most countries have national pride, hell I know I do, but I would never say it's the best place to live... Probably because I would so much rather retire and live in a Ferrari in Europe just wandering the continent for the remainder of my life.

I don't exactly know what has all been said about the U.S. in the comments below, but here's my two cents. Back in the good ole days of american invention, when I might've had pride to say I was an American, people did stuff. They invented some cool new technologies, bettered some older ones, and generally kicked ass. Once life became 'easy', however. We started getting lazy. None of us want to be the go-getters that we used to be, but we still want to believe that we're the coolest country in the world. Unless we get off of our fat asses and start doing stuff again, that's not going to happen... |

Sorry but proving the Pythagoras Theorum is a stupid drating thing. I remember in high school doing this crap in geometry. It was the only math class i ever had issues with. Why do we need to prove it if its already been proven. What a waste of time. |

people hate america because we have capitalism at its finest. at least we used to, now that the world financial infrastructur has gone online people have been raping it and now primarily "credit" is funding america. moving to canada.

NOW, apart from my own rant below, America did invent a bunch of stuff, but again, the whole "we are the bestest place ever" is said by everyone, everywhere.
Most aren't silly enough to say so in a public international forum though.

2) USA envy is a little silly. Every country I've ever lived in (USA, UK, UAE, Italy) believes that they are the envy of the world. This isn't just American pride. It's everyone. Canada too.
3) "America invented everything". *Rant mode*
Flight? No.
Powered Flight? No.
Manned Flight? No.
Manned, Powered, Repeatable, Documented, Heavier than air flight? Yes! Quickly put it in all the textbooks!
Does anyone know the names of the people who did anything leading up to this? No, because what America does is reach an arbitrary point, and it's a big deal.
