Tuesday, May 25, 2010 4:32:31 PM People think of Klingons as the ridged forehead guys, but in the original series, they were indistinguishable from humans. It wasn't until TNG that Klingons grew ridges (the whole ordeal is explained in the ENT series). I prefer the explanation in DS9: Worf: We do not discuss it with outsiders. |

Tuesday, May 25, 2010 3:23:12 PM Wow... Did pmarren really just say that on IAB??? Not for nothing, dude, but you may wanna be careful about dissing Star Trek on an internet forum. That's like going to a Boston sports bar wearing a Yankees jersey and screaming "Red Sox, Bruins, and Celtics ALL SUCK!" You're ASKING for pain. |

Tuesday, May 25, 2010 2:54:44 PM Hate to ruin this with a discussion of English grammar, but the last point is flat out wrong--split infinitives have been a part of English since the 14th century. It was only linguistic elites in the mid-19th century, who thought Latin the best language in the world (and in which it's impossible to split infinitives), who argued English should be like Latin. Split infinitives are both common and acceptable in normal writing. Only the most stubborn of my colleagues (English teachers) still mandate this rule. |

Tuesday, May 25, 2010 9:23:04 AM I've only seen a couple of star trek episodes but even I knew most of these facts :D Also, theres no such thing as a grammatically incorrect sentence according to my A-level English teacher. They just use "non-standard" grammar. |

Tuesday, May 25, 2010 6:53:23 AM I prefer the term Trekkie. People think of Klingons as the ridged forehead guys, but in the original series, they were indistinguishable from humans. It wasn't until TNG that Klingons grew ridges (the whole ordeal is explained in the ENT series). *vulcan salute* |

Tuesday, May 25, 2010 12:26:11 AM Yeah I knew most of that Lionheart, although you put it better than I could have. But I still did read about the test group story. I suppose Tgpz is right and it was just a lie to cover their asses. Anyway, I haven't really considered myself a trekkie in like 5 years, so my memory of trivia is probably screwy. I just can't give up the screen name I've been using on every website ever for 11 years now. |

Tuesday, May 25, 2010 12:18:51 AM I have another factoid for this: the phrase "beam me up, Scotty" was never spoken... the closest anything came was "beam US up" |

Monday, May 24, 2010 11:41:14 PM Also all the Star Trek autobiographies say the 1st Interracial kiss is a lie too. NBC was afraid of people being offended. The camera swings behind Uhura's head and you never actually see them kiss, because they're really not. |

Monday, May 24, 2010 11:39:01 PM According to "Star Trek, the Real Story" the story about NBC not wanting a female #1 is a lie. The truth was everyone knew Majel Barret was Roddenberry's mistress & didn't want him sticking her on the show. When he later tried to sneak her in as Nurse Chapel, NBC resisted, and Roddenberry made up the story about NBC not wanting a female 1st officer to embarrass them into dropping the issue. |

Monday, May 24, 2010 10:40:48 PM Angilion, isn't it like 5:30AM where you are now? Nearer 06:30. I have weird sleep patterns and when not at work I prefer to be nocturnal. Great cartoon though, and it is appropriate for me. It's about time I went to bed. |
