It is a proven fact that if someone charges you within 21 feet they will stab/cut you before you can shoot them, and you also have to consider that you may miss due to the stress involved with shooting incidents, and that if you do get one shot off and hit anywhere but the brain or spine they are still going to be able to kill you and you can't stop them even though they will never live themselves. Sometimes a good defense is the best offense. In all reality if you have to kill someone within 21 feet an edged weapon is proven more effective. |

This guy is as goofy as it gets, but...
The 21 ft. rule is legit. Try it with someone. Empty your gun and holster it, give your friend a pen and mark off 21 ft. Don't start to draw until he shows the "knife". See who gets there first.
I've done it a dozens of times and even out to 30+ feet it's a coin toss on who's going to win. Even if the person got an accurate shot off, I was still close enough to stab them in the throat without losing momentum.
Check youtube for a movie called "Edged Weapons" that covers the 21 ft rule more comprehensively.

Does this 21 ft rule not consider that a normal thinking person if seeing someone coming to attack them wouldn't back peddle or move while also drawing a gun. |

This video is terrible. 21 FEET??!?!If you count how long it takes him to get to that target, I did, and it's about 3 seconds. In 3 seconds, provided I've got one in the chamber, I could nearly empty my G-19. Trust me, I've counted how long it takes at the gun range. Especially with such a light trigger pull and no external safety. Thanks, I'll continue to carry and leave the knives for cutting fruit. |

Angilion I hope your willing to bet your life on it. I'm sure my .357 mag snub nose would win in any instance. Even if you had it a knife pressed to my neck and were asking for my money. Reach into my pocket and you would get a chest full of 158 grain lead. That's the same power as a 40 pound sledge hitting you in the chest at full swing. I can also shoot from the hip so if your thinking that running at me will work I can hip fire six rounds in less than it takes you to get to me from 20 feet..and hit you. Remember practice makes perfect. (licensed gun owner/carrier and hunter.) |

Anyone saying they can draw and fire in the span of time it takes for a person to run 21 ft at you is either retarded or doesnt understand the concept of reaction time vs advance speed. All these people saying they;d have 2 or 3 bullets in them arent realizing that they wouldnt even have time to see the threat and draw the gun in the time it took someone to advance 21 ft. As former military, I can tell you with good certainty that the 21 ft rule is not only solid, but is part of military basic training. |

@Baalthazaq: Exactly. The circumstances are what matter here.
The 21 foot situation would likely never happen. Let's say I'm walking down the street and see Knifey McKniferson in his front yard wailing on cardboard cutouts. I am going to see him from way more than 21 feet away, and if I have a gun, I might just unbutton that bad boy just to be on the safe side.
The only scenario in which his tactics would work would be a sneak attack, in which case, yes you would probably get owned.
Also, a knife attack can be countered. You can't go Neo on bullets IRL.
@Loxen: That's why you don't have a boyfriend that is a complete retard. If he sees you raiding the fridge or something when you get home all he has to do is say your name.
