-people that commit crimes do not expect to be caught so,
-tougher punishments have been proven to NOT decrease crime per capita thus,
-tougher punishments simply increase the amount of money spent on criminal housing.

A prison is nothing more than "government funded education where people learn how to be even less sensitive and more self serving" if it does not include an army of a psychiatric staff and a real education system.

A) This may come as a shock to you and the people in the picture but, there really isn't a union card carrying group of time clock punching rapists out there because
B) Far and above, the majority of sex assaults are committed by people that
-know their victim and deal with them on a regular basis
-got carried away with the moment and
-are otherwise normal individuals.
They didn't go out thinking: "Today I'm going to rape someone! I better put on a nicer shirt!"

Actual serial predators are an ultra-minor fraction of criminals and, by your own admission, have a sickness.

We, as a modern society, are failing to acknowledge criminal behavior as illness, having our standard response as "throw 'em in a hole x-odd number of years."

If, while they are in that hole, they are not treated and gaged as improved, we have missed an opportunity which costs doubly because
-people that commit crimes do not expect to be ca

The point of this rally isn't to convince sexual predators to stop raping, its to force the public to acknowledge the problem so that they can enforce stricter punishments on rapists; rapists are sick, depraved people and they should remain in jail for life not 6 to 10 years.

Harleq, because morons only understand insults, and these people looked like morons to me.

They still look like morons to me, because they are morons.

Also, SLC, "buh-dum tiss" does not automatically imply "I'm kidding, I know this isn't true." Usually it means "HAHA I MAD A FUNY CUZ I LIKE STEROTYPS IM A RETARD."

I see a lot of guys here bringing up the argument of "well men get raped too, so it's not all about women". While this is true, 91% of rape victims are female, and 99% of rapists are male. So talking about rapists as if they were all male is fairly accurate.
And yes, obviously, the men who rape are responsible for all the rapes they commit. Which is 99% of rapes. I know this seems obvious, but some people don't seem to get it.

@Deeplick Eh...? If a woman doesn't say "No!" or "Stop!" then it might as well have been consensual sex. Telling them to stop gives you an alibi that it was in fact rape, and you have every right to report them for it if so.

Not that it would probably matter in most cases, but you never know I guess...

Uh anyways... <_<; I wonder what that banner says?

That's a completely untrue and, to be blunt, very ignorant thing to say. The only difference, I believe, is that men are probably not as easily overpowered by women (in general, of course some cases can prove otherwise). The main reason you wouldn't hear about such acts are that people are ashamed of them, both male and female. I, and I'm sure many other IABers, would appreciate it if you thought about what you're saying before you say it.

deeplick... i do agree with you there... most people who rape (its not only guys at all!) Dont care / or they love it when you are screaming back NO NO NO at them!

At school here we were taught NOT to scream out rape... we were taught to scream FIRE FIRE FIRE... as it was more likely that people would run to your aid, How sad is that??

Also i never said signs were effective... i actually disagree with them, i just stated that more people should be "out there" (like the people in that pic) putting the msg across that rape is not acceptable!

Also i think there are alot of ways (apart from protests, and signs) that are a plausable way of reducing the statistics, & rape crimes that happen to date... and i agreed with a few of the people on IAB on how that could be done,

its just a case of more action less words.

Lauryn the problem is that a rapist is not going to read any of those signs and be like. You know what, I should ask before I force a woman to have sexual intercourse with me. They don't care and no amount of people holding paper with those words on them will change their minds. If they cared they wouldn't be doing it in the first place. PS if I came across a guy trying to rape a woman I would beat the living poo out of him. That is what needs to be done to stop rape, not hold a sign up with words on it. Words are meaningless, even more so when people don't care.

Women, just some advice. If a guy plans on raping you, he doesn't care if you say no. In fact most likely the whole time he is raping you, you will be begging him not to, and screaming "No, rape, rape, rape!" Fact is, he doesn't want your permission. So telling a would be rapist that he needs to ask first, is as useful as telling a snake to or rabid dog not to attack you because you don't like it. Fact is, they don't care, and never will. That is why they rapped you in the first place.

I think why you never hear about women raping men is that most men wouldn't consider it traumatizing. They'd be like "oh, I was forced to have sex....woe is me. Wanna go again?"

In the time i wasted reading through all these comments(i spent about 15 - 20 mins reading and rereading) i couldnt help but wonder... how many people (note not just women) have been raped while i read this??... at least the people in the pic are out there trying to do something.. i dunno bring awareness ect.. while we are all just sitting here on IAB.. All of you seem to have such BIG opinions and ideas that could make things (in your mind/world) better... so what have you done about it yet?? Are you out there trying to stop rape? Voicing your opinions on IAB isnt really going to help.. venture outside your house and do something that you think will help stop rapists.. if everyone did that then im sure together we all could at least improve the statistics!
Heck if you see someone being raped Do something about it! i know for one in Aus THAT is a big problem... people see it and walk right on past.. its not your problem right??

@Siyanor I COULD have done a lot of things; I could have majored in chemistry, I could have driven drunk the other night, I could have taken a left instead of a right... Do you see where this is going? Did you get "teh intarnetz" like 2 weeks ago or something? Am I arguing with a retard here...? People like you make me wish abortions were mandatory for some families...

"I say we teach men they are responsible for raping women. Short skirts, alcohol and culture are not responsible. Men are responsible of rape. Period."

Ummm... no. All rapes are responsible by men?

While rape by men is much more common, women commit sexual offenses also. There are different statistics online and in books. I am not pushing any of them, though. (Sorry, I'm just sick of "the man" getting blamed for EVERYTHING!!!)

Thanks for playing. Please collect your parting gift on the way out the door!

Siyanor how about when you make an argument for something you actually talk about the subject at hand instead of insulting the opposing party relentlessly. You may have well have just posted
"@name nou" every time.
