Thursday, April 29, 2010 10:33:30 AM "I really don't get those ads. "Look how great are our tv's, the image is so clear and bright, it even can picture a parrot". Which is cool until I realize that I watch all this on my cheap-ass LCD monitor. So how can that give me an idea about how really the tv in question looks like? It only makes me to like my monitor a bit more :)" Maybe the idea is to get people to notice the shortcomings of their TV and/or computer monitor in order to get them to drop some money on a Sony. But if you asked the marketing douchebags who came up with it, they'd probably tell you something about celebrating the beauty of the colors of life yadda yadda blah blah blah... |

Wednesday, April 28, 2010 8:31:37 AM So this isn't advertising any particular product of Sony's, right? It's just a commercial with Sony saying "look at how awesome we are"? Or did the point just pass me by? |

Wednesday, April 28, 2010 4:08:52 AM almightybob, thats exactly what i think when i see the hd adverts!, but i used tothink it more when watching a video (back in the day) when they were introducing dvds, because i swear for some reason the small ad was always clear of any "liney" imperfections, like was the norm for videos, and the sound was always clearer. with dvd/hd ads i can see how for that short space they can jam a higher quality video into that space if thats what theyre doing, and you cant make a whole dvd blu ray quality because the disk doesnt have the space, but chances are they are using camera and colour trickery which makes me laugh, but if it works and gets people to buy their product who can fault it, i cant think of a better way to advertise between formats withought it being as visually captivating. |

Wednesday, April 28, 2010 3:17:36 AM If you like Cinema you will get an HD system, it is VASTLY superior to the muddy resolution of dvd. I think they should keep pressing forward and make it another 2 to 5x resolution, but consumers are slow, and silly. |

Wednesday, April 28, 2010 2:52:00 AM What I find hilarious about the whole HD thing is that, when they show me adverts of abstract high-intensity colour splotches like this... I'm watching that advert on my normal-definition TV. "Ooh, look at our swirling pretty colours! Look how intense they are in HD! Don't you want everything to look this good?" "... but the swirling pretty intense colours I'm looking at are normal definition, because my TV is normal definition." "Well yes, but... they'll look EVEN BETTER in HD!" "But if I can have the swirling pretty intense colours on my normal TV, as evidenced by your advert, why do I need HD?" "... but look at the colours!" |

Wednesday, April 28, 2010 2:07:45 AM Yes I agree with Alpha1971, I think this is likely played on loop on their (High Definition!) TVs in the stores. |
