Monday, April 26, 2010 1:15:12 AM I got a couple lines in when I realized my trusty steed was waiting outside, as we had not yet rescued the Princess of Wisdom from the evils in the Mushroom Kingdom. So, I saddled up my horse, and I ride into the city. |

Saturday, April 24, 2010 6:07:27 AM I was discussing this the other day. I bought some toys (for work) at the Dollar store, one broke, it was poorly designed & cheaply made. I said "Some woman in China spends 10 hours a day putting these things together, and it doesn't even last 1 day before breaking. She got paid almost nothing so we could have cheap junk." Makes one think how good we have things here, eh? |

Saturday, April 24, 2010 1:26:44 AM arustyglove Agreed. Holidaying in China was cheap as. If you avoid all the tourist type attractions and areas anyway, they seem to cost a fair bit more. We tagged up with some friends who were local and lived off next to nothing. For instance, a nice top in Melb, aus, about 30 bucks, maybe more depending on where you buy. A nice top in China? Cost me about 1.50 The sellers do try to take advantage of you if your forgin though. Higher priced for the same goods, etc, since you know no better. If I learnt some more Mandarin, I wouldn't mind going back and studying their for awhile one day. |

Saturday, April 24, 2010 12:10:16 AM Wow, to be completely honest, nothing's bothered me this much before. I'm actually still slightly angry over it from yesterday. |

Saturday, April 24, 2010 12:03:42 AM "I'm not saying this isn't bad but here it's the way of life." Well you guys deserve better. I'm shocked at how casual and day-to-day you seem to see it. Sure I never grew up in your area, but from where I am, it's sad and disgusting that people must live like that. I feel so terrible that they are treated so inhumanely! |

Friday, April 23, 2010 9:38:23 PM "open ur f*cking eyes; the cost of living in china is almost the same as living in the heart of new york f*cking city. " Are you insane? ahah that is just so off. I live in the richest city in China and the cost of living is no where near the cost of living in North America let alone NYC. The only thing that comes remotely close is the cost buying a house, but that's only in like Shanghai or Beijing. The day to day is so much lower you can't believe. |

Friday, April 23, 2010 9:25:53 PM Meh I live in China this is no biggy. 1500 RMB a month is pretty normal, though I have to admit the working hours are very high. Plus if you notice this Factory is in Guangdong province which is a poor and rough province. Though the cost of living there is very very low. I'm not saying this isn't bad but here it's the way of life. |

Friday, April 23, 2010 7:32:31 PM Logan, have YOU ever worked for Goggle? It's considered one of the best jobs in the world, because of the pay and the fact that anyone working for Google gets unlimited sick days. The hours aren't "a little rough," that's most of their day. By the way, The cost of living an average life in China is around $1000. |

Friday, April 23, 2010 5:23:49 PM The U.S. went through a period of doing this too, do we have the right to take it away from China? China is becoming a world power and the U.S. is falling out of its position as one because the Chinese will work and the U.S. wants to live in decadence. |

Friday, April 23, 2010 5:10:48 PM I think the cost of living in most parts of China is one tenth (1/10) of that in the USA so $.65 would equal a little under minimum wage. They restrict it to 16-18 year old's, So dozens out of over a thousand just sounds like they per told to lie about their age, probably by Mom and Dad. The hours seem a little rough but you ever worked for Google? |

Friday, April 23, 2010 4:59:29 PM Arrogant self absorbed self righteous people want to take these people's job away from them because they're too lazy and feel too entitled to work that many hours. Blah. |

Friday, April 23, 2010 4:29:37 PM I really enjoy seeing all of the self-righteous people here on IAB who don't understand any of the positive economic benefits for the Chinese people from this. |

Friday, April 23, 2010 4:26:39 PM Microsoft is owned by Bill Gates no? Billy has final say over everything that happens no? Is Billy stupid and ignorant? NO! He knows his products are being made by child workers, he knows what's happening. He could very well pull out of there and give the US and Canada all of those jobs...yes, it's more expensive to keep us working but at least he's not promoting child labour. And it's not like he doesn't have the money. Bill Gates is just another money hungry power junkie that could care less about anyone else but his rich self. |
