Not that it matters. The federal government will come up with a law that will overrule it anyway.

They already have radio-frequency tracking chips implanted in dogs and cats released from shelters.
GSM and GPS chips are not far from being small enough for implantation.

I'm not saying these devices won't have their uses, For instance tracking parolees and those that currently have to wear trackers on their ankle. But the government has made it clear they want to be able to ID someone from a distance without their knowledge for 'safety reasons'.

I think the law isn't stupid at all, although the reasons for it might well be.

It's prudent to have a law in place *before* you need one. The technology already exists to chip a person in some ways, so the law isn't all that premature.

You cannot stop the apocalypse much less when the Illuminati and the Rothschild are working together using black magic to call the Maitreya out from his Nazi bunker hideout in Mars and transport the alchemist runes back to Area 51

It's such a relief to know that lawmakers in Georgia have so few problems on their hands that they can waste time battling completely imaginary threats.

"My understanding -- I'm not a theologian -- but there's a prophecy in the Bible that says you'll have to receive a mark, or you can neither buy nor sell things in end times. Some people think these computer chips might be that mark."

Yup, because the Bible is so on the mark with countless issues. You can all thank that horsesh*t "Left Behind" book series for giving another whole generation of fundy retards a reason to freak out over tiny things. "OMG it's just like in Left Behind! The Rapture is near!" *facepalm*

I'm pretty sure it's illegal to pierce or tattoo someone agains their will, so how is this different? Is there a bill to protect people against unwillingly having their head replaced by a dog's head? Because there should be! I mean, it might happen one day!

Isn't bodily harm a felony allready in Georgia?
If it is, what's the point of this law?

Don't laugh, this bill is a good idea. Although, I'm pretty sure such an offense is already covered.

Come to think of it, I don't know if they have even worked the technology to the point that they can run microchips off of the nerve impulses in our bodies.

He must be a dystopian science-fiction fan. I can see the possibility of this happening at some point, but the issue has not been brought up, and I'm not sure that there is any technology available that would make it a particularly useful procedure. You could track someone with a microchip, but there is little else I can think of that it can be used for.

Does forced implantation of microchips happen often in Georgia?
