it is not stained glass
it is a modern creation in a traditional icon style
as for "skinny" - medieval artists - the style dupliated - 1) lived in a time of poverty and starvation 2) tradesmen, like carpenters, both when the icon style was created, and in the first century when Christ is thought to have lived, were poor, economically subjugated by the wealthier classes, barely eking out a living 3) are trying represent vulnerability and meekness
as for pale skin - it is a symbolic representation, not a photograph, designed to communicate to the local community, and this style comes primarily from northern Europe - Russia for example. |
