I'd say he could do this. Take away all the video games, cell phones, dvds, bicycles and toys. Make them do the chores around the house too, Including making their own lunches.
It's likely they'll run away from home and or call you a horrible parent to their teacher.
When the social services people get there, Tell them they are brats and you're doing your best.
They won't take the kids away, But your kids will have to learn self-reliance and respect.
If the kids say "It's not fair", Say "Life's not fair, Grow up !" |

@kynephrus: If these kids get taken away by social services they'll wind up in the system, drifting from one foster home to another. This guy never should have had kids in the first place. It is not your kids' job to be interesting to you, it is YOUR job to make life fulfilling for your kid. |

I actually think what the guy is doing is fairly decent (in the situation...assuming this is real). Granted he could have raised them properly in the first place, and he should own up to his responsibilities...etc, etc. But he realizes he's unhappy and that he's not doing them any good, so he's trying to resolve the situation by finding the best alternative for everybody. If they ended up in a home where they are truly loved and cared for they would in turn be very happy...
I just don't really see this as being cruel. He's just being honest. |
