@_Perfection_: The federalist party were not strict constitutionalists. Both bills expired thankfully. May I cite the virginia and kentucky resolves? Exactly what is happening today (but to a lesser extent) in 15 states.
How are those programs constitutional? I find nothing saying that "anyone over the age of 65 is entitled by certain rights to health care". The document is one that gives certain powers, if you cannot find that power in the constitution it is simply unconstitutional.
@auburnjunky: I am a libertarian. I think these problems can either be solved by state governments or the private sector. Not the federal government. You either support the constitution or you do not. |

Medicare and Medicaid were not intended to be "entitlement programs". I may be conservative, but I fully and with vigor support "Hand Up" programs. I draw the line at "hand Out" programs.
Remember when Clinton tried to limit Welfare and Medicaid to 2 years total over a lifetime. His liberal buddies who controlled the house at that time squished that one.
Sounded like a good idea to me. |
