Sunday, March 28, 2010 2:51:09 PM If anything, you could relate Mac OS to FreeBSD and NetBSD, since that's what NeXTSTEP was mostly based on (or, should I say, was inspired by). So yeah, Macs are actually pretty nice and funny once you fire up the terminal and enable sudo. Almost as nice and funny as, well, FreeBSD. :) |

Sunday, March 28, 2010 10:46:54 AM Wow Lionhart. Mac is UNIX based. Linux is UNIX based. But mac is not Linux based. And the X stands for 10. Wow. So arrogant for someone so wrong. |

The 'X' in OSX stands for Linux - Mac is ALREADY a linux-based machine. >But keep trying. The X is the roman numeral 10 and the mac is unix based. But keep trying. |

Saturday, March 27, 2010 9:31:38 PM "I think it was a major fail for Apple to abandon the line for Mac." I agree.. the MOS 6502 processor line could've been scaled and improved just like the 8080 processor was into 8086, 80286, 80386, Pentium, etc.. I believe what happened is Apple made a sweetheart deal with Motorola for the 68000 cpu, From then on they were supporting Macs only. Since Apple never made it's own cpus and didn't allow for anyone to make their own macs, Unlike the IBM clones, They killed themselves through the self-strangulation of being proprietary and reliance on one sole manufacturer. Now they use Intel chips instead. |

Saturday, March 27, 2010 9:07:32 PM So to justify the price of the ipad, we are going back to the most expensive version ever produced? Well, I know this car is junk and is exactly like your other car, but clunkier, but once upon a time it was 10000000 buzzilion dollars more!!! |

Saturday, March 27, 2010 5:46:22 PM The same can be said for every other computer from those times. All of them were expensive as hell. This doesn't change the fact that Apple still price gouges. |

Saturday, March 27, 2010 5:11:56 PM > Suicism The Don College big surplus sale about 15 years ago. Those things would have been the equivalent of about $20,000 when they came out so it makes sense the govt schools bought them first. |

Thanks for the memories. My buddy had one that we messed around with for years. I think it was a major fail for Apple to abandon the line for Mac. |

Saturday, March 27, 2010 11:20:49 AM Sabre200000 - Because your laptop doesn't have a touch screen with multitouch. It doesn't have a very large user base that all have the same software and it doesn't include software that was designed specifically with it in mind. So yeah. I'm thinking yer a lil off on this one. Granted it's nothing more than a glorified big iPod Touch. But never the less. It still can do many many many things your laptop won't ever do. Simply because people just don't develop for them specifically. |

Saturday, March 27, 2010 9:17:15 AM Sabre200000 - saw a picture once that showed you two computers; one microsoft, one mac, exactly same specifications. The microsoft one cost $1500, and the mac was $7500. The only difference was the fact that one was a mac. |

Saturday, March 27, 2010 7:52:17 AM How is it a competitive price when I can buy a laptop that does more for less money? I don't think Apple has EVER released an item at a reasonable price that doesn't rip the consumer off. |

Saturday, March 27, 2010 5:12:18 AM "I'm on a mac and it can't support youtube if you have another window up." Sucks. I can have a window with 5 tabs of YouTube open and still work on another window. |
