Tuesday, March 23, 2010 6:52:24 PM @ almightybob1 You do realise that the BNP would be arrested and prosecuted if they rallied marches inciting hatred against people who where (for example) coloured or gay. They can say "British is best" but they cant say "white is best and anyone of a diffrent skin colour deserves to die". Big difference! |

Tuesday, March 23, 2010 6:47:27 PM ....you allow them to have their opinion...as long as they don't have it in the UK..... Look at it like this. The US would not allow a known fundamentalist Muslim fanatic preacher to come into America. He would be denied entry because he incites hatred and violence. We have the same rule, but we apply it to all inciters of violence. If the Westboro Baptists were UK citizens, they would not be turned away at UK immigration. The BNP is a prime example of people who espouse hatred but are not expelled from our country. However, we choose not to allow preachers of hate into our country, no matter which faith they subscribe to. |

Tuesday, March 23, 2010 6:42:01 PM If I express hostile anti-American sentiments I would not be entitled to enter the US. If I voice support to an anti-maerican or terrorist group I would be banned from entering the US. If I am 'suspected' of being violent I would be banned. Is it then wrong that we block someone who has fallen into the category of fomenting hatred, of such extreme views and expressing them in such a way that it is actually likely to cause inter-community tension or even violence if that person were allowed into the country? |

Tuesday, March 23, 2010 6:35:24 PM people in the UK are allowed that opinion. We just choose not to allow people like that who are not UK nationals into the country. |

Tuesday, March 23, 2010 6:29:42 PM Whoop whoop, we got to the Nazis. The fundamental rule of internet debate, “If you believe that then that's what the Nazis wanted”. I'm stunned. How does this equate to Nazi book burning? We allow their opinion but choose not to allow their presence as it would incite violence. That doesn't sounds like book burning to me. The fact that the BBC did an impartial programme about their beliefs with cooperation from the WBC proves what I'm saying. The voicing of their opinion is acceptable but we choose not to allow them to come here. |

Tuesday, March 23, 2010 6:22:40 PM What point is she even trying to make? I don't understand. Is she attempting to be patriotic? Because there's nothing patriotic about standing on the U.S. flag. |

Tuesday, March 23, 2010 6:18:37 PM Never said individuals cant oppress other. I said the operative word was power. Power-the possession of control or command over others; authority; ascendancy: power over men's minds. In this case, you have absolutely no ability to oppress me since you have no power in one way or another. Power doesn't just mean authority, there are also informal powers. So tell me how you the (definition 1) "tyrant", can (definition) "keep me feeling down"? |
