Thursday, March 25, 2010 7:33:38 PM Also, is this a traffic cam or who the hell took this photo at this exact second? There are several images, in black and white. That leads me to conclude that it's a traffic cam. Incidentally, most of the references online to it appear to be from the Netherlands. 'Foto' is also Dutch. So I'd go with it being in the Netherlands rather than Germany. |

Thursday, March 25, 2010 11:43:29 AM Well MAYBE we should LOOK before crossing the street. I get so pissed when the dumb asses at my college just walk across, not paying ANY attention, texting or whatever and endangering themselves. Not saying that was absolutely the case here, but it's likely. Also, is this a traffic cam or who the hell took this photo at this exact second? |

Wednesday, March 24, 2010 9:32:38 PM I'd have to agree with the sentiment of this not being humorous at all. I'm fine with pictures of videos of pepole injuring themselves, especially if they're not mortal injuries...but this just crosses the line. |

Wednesday, March 24, 2010 9:22:01 PM I would assume he was okay if this image was allowed onto the internet. This is a fallacy. The internet is a "neutral" ground. Or, in other words, anything goes here, and there's nothing the world can do about it (unless you have an overzealous govt. with blockers *cough* China *cough*) And you put pictures and videos of people being injured and maybe killed in here, labelled as being funny. Hm...you got a good point there. Boy, are my morals screwed up =/ |

Wednesday, March 24, 2010 7:33:45 PM Subushie, I lived in Germany for over a decade. My statement to henryhendrix was due to something he said to me. You have to go back to the second page of comments to see how it went down, starting with his post that said "foto?". You'll then see my response, explaining to him what the picture is of in what I thought was an answer to his question? Read that history and his response to my friendly explanation and you'll see that my most recent post (the one you commented on) makes perfect sense and that it does not, in fact, need rethinking. |

Tuesday, March 23, 2010 11:28:05 PM to SmagBoy1 although i have no way of knowing for sure, if you look. most of the cars are Volkswagen and if I'm not mistaken, the Volkswagen is a pretty prominent car in Germany. and at the top of the picture is the word "Foto." which could mean anything, but coincidentally its also the German word for photo. So maybe you should rethink your previous statement. |

Tuesday, March 23, 2010 8:48:54 PM Oh, gee, sorry, henryhendrix. I read your post to mean you were asking a question and I politely answered. See, generally what these little things mean ---> ? is that you're asking a question. But hey, you want to be a little Nancy about it, that's fine. But, being as you're being all knowledgeable now, how do you know those are German plates on the cars? You Super Man or something? The plates have been blocked out. The only way to tell European Union plates apart is by the tiny decal denoting the country they're from. They're all that size and shape. Just thought you'd like to know even though that time you didn't use a question mark. If you've going to give me poo, I may as well earn it. |

Tuesday, March 23, 2010 6:54:28 PM Man is the creature that laughs at things that are painful. Sure cute little things may get you to laugh a little, a chuckle here and there, but almost without fail, everytime there is something that causes a truly gut-wrenching bout of laughter, someone was the butt of the joke, and they were either physically or emotionally hurt. This escalates to things like this, where yes, I laughed, and I'll still laugh. Life isn't nice, or fair, or pretty. Either you shelter yourself from the world, or you learn to laugh. The only other option is to always be offended or afraid. I'll keep laughing. If you wanna criticize me for that... oh well. I see it as your loss. There's a lot to laugh at. |

Tuesday, March 23, 2010 6:12:36 PM I used Tin Eye to find other occurences of the photo online. It seems they're all forums on sites using languages I can't read, so I didn't find any news. I did find a photo from a couple of frames earlier that reveals what happened - he was hit dead on his left side. So there's no doubt that his left leg would be badly broken. Bear in mind that he was hit in the leg by the front of the car with enough force to spin him and fling him head-first into the windscreen pillar. No-one's leg can take that much force sideways from a metal object and not break very badly. Given the height of collision point, it would probably have ruined his knee too. Probably both knees. Although I think it's likely that he's too dead to care about that. Oh how very funny. If anyone can find the guy's name, maybe we can find contact details for any next of kin and phone them for a good laugh. Maybe go piss on his grave too - wouldn't that be hilarious? |

Tuesday, March 23, 2010 6:08:44 PM Hasn't everyone been to Rotten.com? i mean, if your a wuss don't go, but jeez you're allowed to put ANYTHING on the internet. That being said, this is a bit morbid for IAB, i don't care one way or the other, but just for what is usually on here. |

Tuesday, March 23, 2010 6:03:30 PM I would assume he was okay if this image was allowed onto the internet. Why would you assume that? In fact, why would you think anything is *allowed* onto the internet? That would require everything sent to the net to be examined by people who could allow or forbid it. That would be impossible and it would be devastating to the net if it were possible and implemented. A driver has run a red light and hit a pedestrian hard enough to fling them and their bag into the air in different directions. The pedestrian is colliding head-first with the steel supporting strut at the side of the windscreen. Probably at 30mph or more. Do you really assume he's OK? Seriously? You think people are OK after that sort of collision? If he's lucky, he'll have a fractured skull and a couple of other broken bones and maybe he'll recover in a couple of months. If he's unlucky, he'll have brain damage. If he's a bit more unlucky, he's dead. |
