Friday, March 26, 2010 7:22:16 PM well i prefer frosting not to sweet on cake and sometimes cake is better than pie and pie is sometimes better than cake. My point is cake and pie are the same things. and cake is the unhalthy verson, and pie is the healthier verson. However to this artical....i dont think ive ever seen a birthday pie to be honest, and i dont think ive seen christmas pie or halloween cake. |

Sunday, March 21, 2010 11:32:08 AM I agree that pie is better, but to me, the best part is the crust. And I hate cake frosting. Don't know why I'm opposite most people. |

Sunday, March 21, 2010 2:50:28 AM Pie is the best overall. So many kinds. So many flavors. Pot pie for dinner, lunch, ...breakfast.... Apple pie, pumpkin pie, peach pie, cherry pie not so much, blueberry pie, Pi, and according to Answers.com, there is over 12,000 different registered kinds of pie in the Northern Hemisphere. You can not beat that. Cake is... eh... There is chocolate and vanilla as the two base flavors. I don't eat it anyways since most contain dairy/eggs. Actually, the last time I had cake was my last birthday. It was friggin yummy though. I've never had a cake that tasted better than that vegan one did... But anyways, pies all the way. (: |

Sunday, March 21, 2010 12:05:40 AM xmastree ph, meat pie is nasty crap. almost any other kind of pie is delicious. sporks rule, good job at taking the best part of both out of the equation. cakes are nothing but a sponge without the frosting, and what kind of pies do you like without fruit? |

Saturday, March 20, 2010 9:47:43 PM I agree with everything said in this post. Although wtf? frosting is not the good part of cake. Especially in store bought cake. Store bought cake frosting is practically poison. |

Saturday, March 20, 2010 8:25:22 PM Fruit pies suck. Non fruit pies are yummy. Frosting (unless super sweet) on cake sucks. The cake is yummy. |

Saturday, March 20, 2010 6:52:40 PM But this person does not actually like cake, just frosting. So the argument doesn't really work. |

Saturday, March 20, 2010 6:11:49 PM Thank you for the correction xmasstree_ph. I quote the first sentence of your Wikipedia link, "A mince pie (sometimes also minced, minced meat, or mincemeat pie) is a British festive sweet pastry, traditionally consumed during the Christmas and New Year period." Note the terms in parentheses please. Now, you may well argue that because it's a British dish it should be called by British terminology. However, one could also argue that because the Belgians 'discovered' fried potatoes and named them Freiten (meaning fries) than you have no right calling them chips. But your correction may be rooted in the fact that the mince pies of today do not contain actual meat in them, as was the case in the 15th-17th centuries. My terminology in this case would be a culinary fallacy. An offense to gourmands everywhere, though technically, according to Wikipedia and a few cookbooks, it's still acceptable to use the archaic appellation. |

Saturday, March 20, 2010 6:10:06 PM Lastly, I am sorry for making such a big deal out of this. Truth be told, I don't really care what it's called but at the moment I am simply and most irrevocably bored. out. of. my. f*cking. skull.

Saturday, March 20, 2010 4:04:37 PM Actually, I hate too much frosting on cake, but pie is still better anyway. Especially cherry pie and ice cream... I really want pie now. ;( |
