Friday, March 19, 2010 9:21:33 PM Its time for some stereotyping... These are more like American life instructions No, the American instructions are: "Get laid" "Make money" "Get a gun" "Pray" |

Friday, March 19, 2010 9:18:10 PM "have fun" is kinda the same as "strive to be happy", but yea, I agree with this. |

Friday, March 19, 2010 6:36:05 PM Are you saying...that our world is great?! The hell?! The only great thing about this world is Nature. So you worship nature (you capitalise it and idolise is, so I'm assuming you worship it) and denigrate humanity (presumably from your own lack of self esteem). You're wrong on two counts. i) Humanity is part of nature. ii) There is tremendous greatness in humanity. Awesome, beautiful wonder in the complexity of the human mind and the general striving to get along despite circumstances alien to our primitive impulses (humans are wired for small groups, not vast hordes crammed together in an urban environment). A bunch of apes striving to understand the universe. The pinnacle of billions of years of evolution. The creativity of art. Humanity is awesome. |

Friday, March 19, 2010 6:28:28 PM ummkay.. but i think "do not accept defeat" is controversial. for example: i loved a man so much, i gave up my friends, my school, my home for him. but he treated me like a slave. kept seeing other girls, not answering ANY of my questions, using drugs, etc. in the end i gave up on him. but i still love him crazy. i sorta got back to my old life (with friends, school, home) but i can't forget him. and he doesn't even love me at all. according to this, i should never give up on him till the day a earned his love? According to this, you shouldn't accept defeat. The question is then what is defeat in that context? I think that defeat in that context would be ruining your life by failing to leave a bad relationship that you know is a mistake. |

Friday, March 19, 2010 12:06:36 PM These are more like American life instructions. Some other cultures do not recognize these. Yet, our world would not have been so great if it wasn't for those who did not have fun, who did not strive to be happy, and who hurt others. |

Friday, March 19, 2010 2:06:26 AM Oh to young and blissfully ingnorant. Strive though you may, you'll never be happy. And no matter what you do, someone is gonna get hurt. you'll give in to crushing defeat soon enough. Have fun! |

Friday, March 19, 2010 12:40:13 AM Agreed with Opie. The ordering is important. Take Dexter for example. He 1) Hurts people. 2) Has fun. 3) Strives to be happy. 4) Doesn't accept defeat. Now. If he chose not to hurt people, he wouldn't have fun, would be accepting defeat, and wouldn't be striving to be happy (though striving is open to interpretation). He effectively has a choice of 1/4 or 3/4, with the 3/4 making him a serial killer. |

Thursday, March 18, 2010 11:29:55 PM Seeing this made me realize that I've kind of subconsciously been living by these instructions. Is it good that my lifestyle matches a four-step diagram that took someone 20 minutes to make? |
