but in elementary its just f***ed up
a teacher smacks me on the head and he goes "na na na na na na", i just laugh, if it was in elementary, i would cry |

My teacher when I was eight or nine ripped up my rubber in front of my eyes then chucked the peices across the classroom then got a chair and did the same. But apart from that I really liked him, although my rainbow rubber was never the same :(. |

I have to agree with all those people who say that if this was a high school, it would be fine, but not as is.
On a semi-related note, my first period teacher right now calls me a deadbeat because I sleep in his class all the time.
It's not my fault I am most assuredly not a morning person... And it doesn't help that it's English... |

but you're not in the fourth grade. my favorite teacher in the world pokes fun at me for being a lesbian (the best joke he ever made was when someone called me a f@ggot- thinking i was a boy because i sometimes dress androgynously- and he responded with, "at least they THINK you like boys!") and we both laugh and have a great time. but this girl is, what, nine years old? he brought her down when she already did poorly on a paper. she's a child. this shouldn't have been on the news, period. but that teacher should know better. even looking past the 'moral' matter of this, it just isn't professional. |

I used to have a teacher that called 8th graders stinky and 7th graders stupid, and she was one of the best teachers I've ever had. Over-sensitive crybaby parents need to grow the F up. |

at one point teachers could paddle kids, some parents complained and they stop. they would throw eraisers and chalk to the kids untill some parents complained about that too. now there is little respect from the students to the teacher. this is funny to me because its so stupid name calling its not good for kids selsteem but over protecting them is not either and if the teacher does this to all the kids its cool whith me |

now i normally defend tough teachers because many kids need all that soft parenting BS cleared out as fast as possible but calling the kid a loser is just pointless o.0; idk as always the news only gives you a small part of the story so we cant really say anything about whats going on really. |

I don't buy the joke explanation. That sounds more like the desperate and uncreative response of someone caught doing something that he cannot be honest about. None of us know the whole story since the news only want to inflame the situation for ratings rather than to actually inform their audience. I hope the school plans to put more thought into this situation than simply forcing an apology. |

Yeah this is not cool. Calling a child a loser, especially as a teacher (ie someone who these kids (should) respect/look upto) would have negative effects on the child's self esteem. |

How is calling someone a loser being a good teacher? How is calling a child a loser helping them learn? Even if this is his legitimate "teaching method" it isn't a very effective one. |
