Psychiatrist is a medical doctor with an MD specializing in Psychiatry. They write prescriptions.

Psychologist is a Ph.D. in clinical or counseling psychology or Psy.D. They typically see clients in in/out-patient settings and don't write prescriptions. Most Psyc research comes from Ph.D. Clinical.

"Ya know, It's funny that the Psychologist is the one who has to go to medical school and can dispense medication, but the psychiatrist gets paid more, even though he has no degree and anyone can be one."
"Wrong way round, Einstein."

Actually, no. Both have to get a Ph.D/Psy D. The only actual difference is the psychologist focuses more on general psychology and less on neuroscience. The psychiatrist its the other way around. The psychiatrist can dispense medication but not provide much therapy, the psychologist provides psychotherapy.

Yeah, this chart is interesting, but the layout is annoying as poop.

Why does a job have to produce something to be able to earn a high salary? Is there a point to this discussion? lol

Not really. It was just an interesting aside into what 'production' means in the context of work.

anethesioligist would be good, its easy. hm, u weigh this much so heres this much morphene.

Is it hell. If it was that easy, they'd just automate it. A set of scales, a computer and a robot, job done.

Do you think people spend 13 years training to be able to weigh someone and look up the corresponding dosage on a chart?

You haven't even got the right drug. You haven't even got the right spelling for that drug, even though it's one of the best known drugs in the world.

You also haven't got a clue.

Anesthesiologist. I am far from sure of what that means,

It's a medical speciality, requiring a minimum of 13 years training in the UK (6 years to qualify as a doctor + 2 years training in anaesthetology + 5 years supervision, effectively an apprenticeship).

They work in pain management and intensive care as well as what they're best known for - administering and maintaining anaesthesia. They're the people who make sure that you're so close to dead during surgery that you have no idea you're being cut open...and make sure that you don't go very slightly further and become dead. It's a very difficult job. Those 13 years of training aren't mandatory just for laughs.

Where are the professional athletes? I was pretty sure that they are paid the most, since Americans like to be entertained. Or do they not count as a "normal people" job?

I would nut my pants sideways for a chance at being an Anesthesiologist. I mean you get people far beyond messed up for 3 or 4 seconds and keep them under during surgery. The value that would have in every day life is worth it. I would get retarded and wake up like nothing happened daily.

Anesthesiologist. I am far from sure of what that means, but wow... that's pretty double of what any surrounding proffession makes. O.o

Although, from my guesses, I don't think I'd ever want that job.

I'm not so sure I care how well my doctor knows how to read, remember, and regurgitate on an exam. Straight A's or C's... it's more important that they treat me right and deliver the expected standard of care.

If you had any idea what they need to know for exams, how much of it they forget, and how much of that knowledge is actually used in practice, you wouldn't care less what their grades were as long as they save your ass and don't kill you.
