Yeah, I agree on the comment that American News is a total joke. They show the most unimportant or repetitive things on there, and often in such a bias manner as well. I actually try to catch BBC World News when I can on the public broadcasting channel, because it relays (important) News happening across the world.

At the same time you can't really blame them, they get the most ratings from showing what they show to us. n_n Oh well, thank God for BBC then.

american news sources are a joke, especially local newscasts, first 45 minutes its death, robbery and one story about corrupt politics, the last 15 min its sports and weather, BBC all the way at least they cover the world

People die all the time. People are murdered and tortured every day. Its just life. If they would rather report on the Academy Awards, go for it.

Arkenoid - I hope you're been super sarcastic, or you're replying to someone else.

Because I think people are moaning about the award being shown over 11 people dying.

You mean soccer stories under the heading of sport, a heading you can change to anything you want?

...Yeah, it's a travesty.

Yes OldOllie cause awards matter a lot more than people DYING, when people die it should make no difference where it is, it is still dead people

Bloody arrogant Yanks! Imagine, an American news network featuring a story about the American film industry awards for their American readers! Don't they realize that there was a bombing in one of OUR former colonies?

Did anybody notice the soccer stories on the front page of BBC? Is that any better?

So what? I'm a bit confused on why I should give a crap. I read the news I want to read from any source on the internet. I don't buy newspapers so my exposure to trivial things aren't missed. I read world news that matters. BTW, IAB seems to be worldly :)

Uhhh, the British equivalent of the Academy Awards aren't front-page news here, either.

Yeah, right! IAB is saying Academy award matters more than real life news that matters?

Kinda missing the point there, bub...

Yeah, right! IAB is saying Academy award matters more than real life news that matters? Just accept the fact that BBC does good reporting of news than CNN and Fox! The world is not all glamor and glitterati Life is more real! I couldn't care much about the awards!

So, IAB, you're telling me CNN sucks as much as Fox? Hmmm, that's disappointing, I always imagined them as sort of half-crap.

gchimmel: so why does it care about Pakistan then, thats not british? Or Nigeria, the next story down... or US, the next, or Iraq the next one? Or Beirut in the spotlight? I appreciate you're only 13-17 but come on... you must realise that news comes from around the world and not just down the street.

With 3 British actors nominated in the top acting categories (that's 30%), let alone in the other categories... why wouldnt we be interested? It's not like british film making hasnt ever won an oscar before... like, say, last year for example or any of the other years when British talent (whether as actor, director, writer, producer, dressmaker or whatever) has won something... you'd think only US films and those five nominated "foreign films" are the only films that ever get made!

And surely that's without, maybe, just maybe, just being interested in the results and the event... we've just had three weeks of Winter Olympic coverage and it was 30 odd years since the last Br

BBC's British, of course they don't care about the Oscars, they're American.
