You are correct that Bin Laden wasn't originally in Afghanistan. I retract that statement. I replace it with the (debated) fact that Bin Laden funneled tons of cash into the Mujahideen during the conflict.

I find it incredulous, however, that the CIA would be independently funneling arms and cash into Afghanistan while the billionaire Bin Laden was doing the same thing. Apparently, the CIA says Bin Laden didn't funnel cash at all. But, coincidentally, Bin Laden did JUST THAT after the Russian's withdrew.

I LOVE FOREIGN INTELLIGENCE INTRIGUE.

The facts are Bin Laden didn't arrive in Afghanistan until after the Russians withdrew from there.

Also, The CIA didn't give the money to Bin Laden or The Taliban. The Mujahideen was funded through congress via Charlie Wilson, During the Russian occupation. After the Russians withdrew funding dried up and then Bin Laden came in after the Taliban took power.

You are aware, of course, of how the CIA gave bin laden sh*t tons of money and materiel to fight the russians in afghanistan, which he did, happily, only later to be cut off from funds and political support after the conflict was over. So to say that Bill Clinton provoked bin laden's attack doesn't seem accurate, considering bin laden felt wronged by the US when it withdrew support following the russian withdraw. Oh, and Bin Laden attacked the world trade center with Van Bombs at a time when Clinton had been in office for little over a year.
