agreed with BrandySnap cause lets be honest
we shouldnt give a poo about this
good movies and some great acter but they shouldnt spend that much money on them for awards for nothing short of a 1 1/2 hr or more of entertainment |

So it costs $12,000 just to make the statuettes and we wonder why there is so much money inequality in the world.Sorry to go all serious but these awards shows are bullsh*t. |

Cost to run a commercial during a broadcast of the Academy Awards. $1,500,000Is this for a 30 sec. Geico commercial, or a 2 minute long Cialis commercial? They can't be the same. |

Interesting that only 7 movies won best picture plus both the best actor and actress. I'm pretty sure Silence of the lambs got all 3 of those awards, does anyone know what the other 6 are? |

Everyone seems to think that Avatar is going to win Best Picture, even the'experts'.... However, think about it, whilst the masses liked it, Avatar is not hugely regarded among most circles. The Academy is made up of people from all different strands of the film industry, that includes Actors, Directors, Producers, and Scriptwriters. Avatar has not garnered a nom in either the Acting, or Writing departments, this puts it at a serious disadvantage. Avatar has also only won a single best picture, compared with the (last time I checked) 8 Best Picture awards that 'The Hurt Locker' has so far garnered. At the moment, it is a race between 'Avatar', 'The Hurt Locker', and 'Inglourious Basterds', among those, the latter is probably the only one with a 100% lock (Cristopher Waltz with Best Supporting Actor). Now, this by no means puts IB as the frontrunner (it is still THL for now) but it certainly gives more power to its campaign (And would be my personal pick for BP). |

He sneaked backstage posing as a journalist (he had worked as a photographer for the well-known LGBT publication The Advocate, shortly before) and ran naked past David Niven flashing a peace sign while Niven was introducing Elizabeth Taylor." |

the "oscar curse" seems lame. how many actors never win an academy award and yet still have a declining career? its seems like an unrelated stat, not to mention 21% is a very low number.the only real curse is the 'Madden Curse'... as for the awards, they're lame. Slumdog won last year (or 2 years ago) and it was one of the worst written movies I've seen, decent acting but poor writing. Avatar will be the same thing, overhyped but utter crap. not to mention UP will win some awards despite being one of, if not THE, worst movies pixar has ever made... |

How can the average person win on oscar betting? isnt it true that in all betting the average winnings will be 0, since money comes from someone else?or does it mean that if you win, the average amount gained is 50 dollars? |
