Wednesday, February 17, 2010 2:05:55 PM There are also medical conditions like phimosis, which may require a circumcision to correct it, and before you go marching around saying consent blah blah, recovery from the procedure as an infant is much easier and complete. For some adults sex is too painful following an adult circumcision. There is less scar tissue as well in infants. The pain is actually not nearly as bad as people think it is, and most doctors use a local anesthetic now. Comparing removing a foreskin to female circumcision or FGM, is quite illogical due to the extreme divergence in severity. Finally, I'm neither for or against it. I just think there is way to much reason for and against to go judging people who opt to have it done for their children. So you really think any parent would do that out of malice? Most parents do it because they care. Why judge them so harshly? |

Wednesday, February 17, 2010 2:00:35 PM "@pui, actually the reason guys get clipped as babies is because the extra skin cause complications such as urinary stream blockage and urinary tract infections as well as a number of other things. And honestly, NO guy would get clipped as a result of their own choice. Ow"This is partially true. Removing the foreskin can prevent infections. I know of men who have gotten yeast infections for example not because they are unclean but because no one is in a shower all the time, and sometimes sex happens when you're not expecting it. Pui, you have had many UTI's due to the fact your urethra is much shorter than a mans, and more prone to infection. There is also evidence that circumcision is reducing the spread of AIDS in Africa. The truth is there are actually quite a few men who opt for circumcision later in life. Continued..... |

Tuesday, February 16, 2010 7:28:50 AM Actually, TwoEyezBlind, I see flaws in that argument.Women have many folds of skin down there. These folds of skin are quite prone to collecting dirt, smelling and causing infections, all of the things people are worried about with foreskins. However, by practicing proper hygiene, this is not usually a problem for women. I assume men are just as capable of cleaning themselves. I have been with and known quite a few uncut men, and none of them have ever had any problem. *I* have had 5 urinary tract infections in my life! Removing all the folds of skin women have at birth would probably help prevent these and other infections, but would anyone think THAT is a good idea? No. No they wouldn't. |
