First of all, taking a "shortcut" through your neighbor's yard is called trespassing which is a crime in the US and since the woman was walking a 7y.o. child she not only broke the trespassing on private property laws she is also guilty of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and she was the one spying on that guy so she is a peeping tom pervert herself. That guy should counter sue on all of the above charges for trespassing, invasion of privacy and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
Secondly, this guy is either a numb nuts or total douchebag. It is dark outside, the lights are on indoors, the curtains were flung wide open...c'mon he had to have know others could see him. old saying goes if your lights are on and its dark outside you can't see them but they can see you. This is what I think others refer to is bad karma or something:/

P.S. - How can you be in violation of a law which is contingent upon unestablished carnal motivation?

So they trespassed upon his property, and then complained about the results? Shame on them!

Ah, it's the person who doesn't know how to spell 'Boudicca'.

Please excuse me for not tugging my forelock to your ladyship, but I've been afflicted with this weird idea that the law should be the same for everyone regardless of their sex. What a loony I am!

that is so f*cked up. i mean the guy should have been more careful to keep his curtains closed, but what the hell is happening to freedom? we aren't safe in our "own" homes and on our "own" property anymore? i'm moving to the mountains.

I don't see what all the fuss is about nudity anyway. It doesn't harm anyone (except maybe the nude person, depending on the weather).

If the woman had an attack of the vapours at the sight of a nude man, she should get back in her time machine and return to the Victorian age.

If the child was traumatised at the sight of a nude man, it's the fault of whoever trained them to be (probably Victorian Lady mother). A strong nudity taboo is not natural - we only have it because we're trained to.

At most, all that was needed was for a couple of coppers to drive over and tell the guy to close his curtains if he was nude at home.

So, basically we can't be naked in our homes without the risk of getting arrested? That's just plain silly. Really now.

I've just had a quick check - Canadian law regarding public nudity explicitly includes nudity in your own home (or anyone else's home) if you can be seen from outside. Section 174, subsection 1b. Subsection 2 also explicitly redefines 'nude' to include wearing clothes that someone decides are an offense to decency or order. Which could mean anything, of course.

But at least Canadian law isn't as sexist as UK law, so you beat us on that one. A woman can be charged under your law.

... Is anyone ever unintentionally naked?

Yes. Say, for example, you were having surgery for something that required a general. You might well be naked on the operating table - clothing might be in the way. Since you'd be unconscious, you wouldn't have any intentions. Or maybe someone gets stupidly drunk and someone strips them so they don't sleep entangled in their cloths. It might be possible for someone that drunk to get injured by their own clothes, maybe if, say, a sleeve got twisted when they moved in their sleep and became a tourniquet. Or maybe, less considerately, to get more skin to write on with a marker pen to make them a laughing-stock.

Luckily for this dude, there is absolutely no way the prosecuting attorneys can prove that he was intentionally trying to show this woman and the child his genitals.

No jury will find this man guilty, rest assured.

He was found guilty.

So he's a registered sex offender, which means that pretty much everyone who doesn't know about the case will think he's a child abuser.

He's already lost one job because of it. Maybe he'll lose his child(ren) as well.

It's worse here in the UK. It's considered a serious sex offense, with up to 10 years in jail and entry on the sex offenders registry. Only for men, of course. Feminism has done well here and laws are continually being rewritten to make them sexist (or more sexist) against men.
