Monday, December 14, 2009 4:37:11 PM I think people are too quick to jump on the bandwagon and bashing the books just because they have become part of a franchise. The books were aimed towards girls and mostly teenage girls, there are a lot of mature, adult women who equally enjoyed reading the books as well as kids. Not everyone who read them is into the 'gothic' genre, that is what is good about these books. They are romance based and the books were never truly about the Vampire aspect, they were about the idea of a forbidden romance and the idea of a love which knows no boundaries. In that way the Twilight series may not be a classic example of well written literature, but then it is meant to be a popular novel series and in my opinion it succeeds as a romance novel. I consider myself to be fairly well educated and yet I can see that there is some worth in the novels and that ultimately if given the chance they are a good read. Twilight is not for everyone, but don't ruthlessly criticise those who like it. |

Monday, December 14, 2009 12:16:04 AM RiptheSys7em, do you honestly believe the poo that just spouted from your finger tips? Only goth girls who cut themselves read Twilight. I know plenty of self harmers. None of them would read that poo. And, those "vampires and werewolves" you think are in these books aren't vampires and werewolves. They're disco douche bags and shape shifters.drat it, I'm not even going to bother trying to have an intelligent debate at 3am. Especially about pooty series. |

Sunday, December 13, 2009 4:59:06 PM let me just say this: when you read Twilight, you're reading a woman's masturbatory aid... |

Sunday, December 13, 2009 12:46:39 PM he tshirt made me laugh but i dont understand why people get so worked up about it no one can physically force you to read the books or watch the films, theres no point complaining and arguing about their popularity, its a writer, targetting a very big audience of teenage girls. its a drating book, there are a lot of bad books out there, the fact that this one is popular isnt important:S |

Sunday, December 13, 2009 5:13:08 AM Here's the simple reason why I don't care to read Twilight: It's a romance novel, and I'm not into romance novels. You can say "Oh, but they're vampires and werewolves, so that's different." Nooo... The fact that they're vampires or werewolves makes no distinct change of the plot whatsoever. You take away the supernatural aspect, and basically you would still have a very bland story about a mysterious boy falling in love with a girl... hell didn't they do this with Grease something? Anyway, the selling point to the little goth girls is that they're vampires, and since that piece of the plot is completely mere window dressing and nothing else, then it's pointless and shouldn't be considered for the integrity of the series. Plus, the woman is a Mormon who is feeding her beliefs onto a bunch of confused teenage girls who cut themselves and wear a lot of black makeup... |

Sunday, December 13, 2009 12:58:28 AM dance4life: Well said. I refuse to read Twilight not because of 'how stupid it is' etc.. but because, while fantasy, they took a long-time established idea (Vampires) and twisted it into something it isn't or shouldn't be. I won't watch 'realistic' movies that do the same ill-representation, either. Like 21? They were all non-white kids, and for that reason, I lose respect for the entertainment. She made a killing, and some people like it, but it's not the vampires I know and love so I won't bother. |

Saturday, December 12, 2009 12:42:15 PM "I am highly intelligent, tried reading twilight (borrowed from a more stupid friend of mine...)to see what the fuss was about. hated it from the first paragraph, gave it back to my friend." i'm an english major, am friends with a lot of other english majors, and am close with some of my PHD degreed teachers. and many of them have read all 4 books. some loved them, some didn't. who cares? obviously the author is a lot smarter than most of us since she's made her fame and riches off the things. i don't love or hate the books. but why get so worked up over it? They're books and movies. stop thinking you're superior for reading what you consider to be "real literature". at least people are reading. you're probably the same people who brag about reading shakespeare and not realize that in his time many of the "intellectuals", such as yourselves, considered him vulgar and beneath them. stop bitching, if you don't like the books, don't read them. |

Saturday, December 12, 2009 12:34:09 PM "the only thing worse than a hardcore twilight fan...someone who thinks they're incredibly intelligent and superior for not reading twilight."What the hell, the t-shirt just says the truth about the book quality-wise: it is crappily written. How's that thinking you are superior? |

Saturday, December 12, 2009 9:56:06 AM "Anyone wants to watch a rather "fresh" take on a vampire film, give "let the right one in" a try."Seen it! Everyone I know hates it (mainly because subtitles make them emotionally implode with the inconvenience of it), but I actually thought it was pretty good. If not a little bit insane - but all the best films usually are... With regards to the t-shirt, I agree with dance4life. She looks like a smug, pretentious little cowhand to me. ... No, I don't read the stupid books. |
