Saturday, December 19, 2009 12:27:03 AM It's an elevator that caters to the unlucky number phobics out there. He's the rundown.-1 is not unlucky, but they're put that instead of the usual 'B' for basement level. 4 is excluded coz it sounds like death in chinese, unlucky. 13 is excluded coz it's unlucky in western cultre, eg friday 13th. 14 sounds like MUST DIE in chinese. Many hotels in the western world exclude the 13th floor, and avoid labelling a room 6 6 6 because of fearful customers. Likewise asians avoid living anywhere with the number 4 in its address. |

Sunday, December 13, 2009 2:11:11 PM maybe the missing floors are restricted floors and can only be accessed by a different life? |

Tuesday, December 08, 2009 4:52:39 AM In china, number 4 is cosidered bad luck, so in many buildings there is no fourth floor. |

Monday, December 07, 2009 4:36:50 PM I've never seen the -1, Eliza^_^, but I knew that's what it meant. Didn't think this was a bad engineering job. Just different from what I'm used to. Also, I think you're right about the missing numbers. |

Monday, December 07, 2009 9:21:12 AM Slayer50515, of course I noticed the missing numbers :p I just find it normal for people to find that strange, even though I don't as those floors could be for staff only or something like that. And as for -1 I ve seen it ever since I can remember in any building that has a basement.. 0 is ground floor, -1 is the basement.. I ve even seen -2 which was the floor under the basement :p I haven't seen it only in my country either, so I just find it strange that people are so surprised by it.. |

Monday, December 07, 2009 7:48:10 AM This is probably in Japan where they like to skip number 4 for being unlucky (that's probably the reason why they skipped 14 as well). |

Monday, December 07, 2009 7:03:17 AM 4 is unlucky elsewhere, 13 is unlucky here, but ... where is 14 unlucky? What'd 0 or B1 ever do to anyone? :( |

Monday, December 07, 2009 1:08:43 AM Ah yeah trashcan7 - you're right... 4 is unlucky for chinese people and 13 for westerners... it probably is superstition-based! :) |

Sunday, December 06, 2009 9:40:57 PM to those that just think the -1 is messed up, notice how there is no 4, 13, or 14. once you notice that, the -1 isn't so bad haha. |
