Monday, December 07, 2009 9:04:06 PM As someone who has cut into human flesh for the sake of education, I can say that an understanding (or at least an acknowledgement) of cells, organs, and organ systems is vital for everyone to possess and can best be provided by hands-on experience; Regardless of whether those systems belong to a frog or to a human, the lesson is that the student learns about the overall function achieved by the functions of the subunits in the body, while gaining solid problem solving, memorization, and maturity skills in the process. |

Monday, December 07, 2009 10:13:03 AM Killed humanely means that you kill them fast and painless, instead of a slow and painfull death. What would you prefer? |

Monday, December 07, 2009 8:27:46 AM @joshboy989: what the hell u talking about your "lucky to be british, hooray for the RSPCA"?? if your implying it means no dissection then 1/ Im british and have done numerous dissections in biology, at many levels, 2/ the rspca doesnt have anything to do with the use of animal corpses, it focuses on cruelty - ie. ALIVE animals. as long as the dissection specimans were killed humanly theyd have nothing to do with it. dissection is awesome!! |

Monday, December 07, 2009 2:43:10 AM How come when someone says dissection is cruel, a bunch of idiots start saying they're PETA members? That doesn't make sense. Then again, IAB is full of users with minimal brain power, so I shouldn't be surprised. |

Sunday, December 06, 2009 9:45:00 PM I agree with obhwfgirl, dissections shouldn't be taken out of school, but I think the students SHOULD get an alternative if they find dissections morally wrong. I refused to do this when I was in high school and got in a lot of trouble for it. |

Sunday, December 06, 2009 3:11:30 PM At some point in time the greatest doctors in this country did animal dissections in high school. For some, it was those dissections that introduced them to something they love. Maybe without them, they would've never even become doctors.I'm sure most of you can remember one thing that inspired you, clicked with you, introduced you into something you loved. So drat PETA for wanting to take that away. It's like saying we shouldn't read Dickens 'cause it's offensive to non-English speakers. dratin' morons. |

Sunday, December 06, 2009 12:14:59 PM Almightybob1: you are my hero. Those who say no one uses the information gathered by dissection? I'm going to graduate school in the fall for wildlife parasitology.. Yes, I will be dissecting lots of animals for scientific purposes, no it's not cruel, and yes, I'm glad I had to dissect things in high school. |

Sunday, December 06, 2009 11:47:44 AM The funny thing bout PETA they kill more animals nationally than all animal shelters. The animals they "liberate" they don't find homes for so they use animal euthanasia. http://www.petakillsanimals.com/ |

Sunday, December 06, 2009 11:42:07 AM We had to disect fetal pigs, with red rubber in their veins and blue rubber in their arteries. The worst thing about it was the smell of the formaldehyde. |

Sunday, December 06, 2009 9:51:14 AM all the PETA freaks just shut up, your organization kills animals too. dissection is a hands-on way to learn about the body of whatever you are dissecting, and is fun for some people. those of you that suggest that dissection teaches it's ok for you to kill for curiosity, if you are dissecting an animal, you likely aren't 5. some of those kids kill random animals for curiosity anyways, and the kids who grow up to be serial killers were likely going down that road anyways. |
