the secret is that all the diamonds are the same color with progressive shading as it gets closer to the bottom. This way each row appears darker than the lower one because of the contrast.its fun being smart :D |

I think it has to do with the contrast of the white parts at the top. Either that or really quick marker skills. Like ninjas/2nd graders. |

It's just because the contrasting at the top and bottom and the fading in the individual diamonds.still cool though, before you look closely. |

There;s no crazy trick to how this is done, he's not "cheating." it's just the way the human eye interprets these things. print out that sheet and try it yourself! this is similar to a ton of others out there one the net. |

Actually Silver they're not. The mind trick is the illusion that no matter what shade he moves it too, the loose diamond always seems to match. |

Meh, the individual diamonds are several shades darker on the bottom. If he were to turn the loose one upside down, this would quickly become apparent. |

These things f with my head! the diamond has a fade from light to dark grey, the retinas can pick the colour of the diamonds but get fd up when the dark mixes with the white so it trys to separate the colours by making them more distinguished! thus the dark gray looks darken when placed next to the white! And thus your brain hurts! |

Those diamonds are slightly darker at the bottom and slightly brighter at the top, as to heighten the contrast at the ends. |
