It's the Chinese that were into foot binding... Not the Japanese. The Chinese saw it as a symbol of nobility if the woman never hand to leave the house, the noble woman's saying went something like "A lady should never have to take more than two steps outside her home." Feet were bound to make proof of this. It also where the idea that pale white skin is sexy in China... But i don't see it. |

and going back to the chinese/japanese debate, the japanese were so against foot binding that when they invaded taiwan they banned foot binding in 1895.... I thought the japanese found the idea of toes sexy, hence why geisha wear those flipflop sandal things and two-toe socks? or am i chatting bollocks? |
