thats why that skin on thier necks is so baggy..it will NOT hurt them one bit. the mothers carry them like this as kittens, and its still just as safe as an adult. |

I don't get where people are getting the "it cuts the airflow off" thing from... I work in an animal clinic and this is how you are trained to pick up a cat if it is hissing and biting. Normally you put your arm under the cat and push your index finger between the front legs, but for mean cats you scruff them and usually grab their back paws so they can't kick. Older cats sometimes still fight after scruffing so you want to hold their back paws, but kittens like this one usually won't fight back. |

ok yes you ppl do have it right that it dose calm a cat down when you pick them up like that but only when they are a kitten or really young as the cat ages the little flap of skin grows out with the rest of its body you can actualy choke a cat like that D: |

Actually picking a cat up by the scruff of the neck like that releases endorphines into the cats system making them less likely to rips you to shreds |

So you wouldn't pick up a cat like that if there was a possibility that it would scratch the crap out of you?
ASPCA picks potentially harmful cats up that way so that doesn't happen.
BTW, carrying a cat that way isn't inhumane, it isn't that much different from how a mother cat picks up its kittens in its teeth-ridden mouth. So are momma cats inhumane as well? |
