Wednesday, May 26, 2004 4:07:29 PM "Also, in Rag's link Rumsfield is quoted as saying: 'I don't know anyone in the executive branch of the government who believes that it would be appropriate or necessary to reinstitute the draft,' Rumsfeld said last month"Oh dear lord, the nievite. Sure. . . we've filled up all the draft boards. Sure. . . we've given our intention to use them. . . Sure. . . we'd even like to extend the draft. . . But we really don't want to, or need to, and have no reason to do anything we just did. The thing is, you're right. You're right about -this- political climate. It would just be to unpopular politically right now. After the election there would be no restrants from doing this. The opioin as to wether or not it would be nessacary is far more diverce then Swopes would have us belive. More then that, just because it would take two years to produce soldures dosn't mean the system isn't in place. Anyway. Don't call me Rag. |

Wednesday, May 26, 2004 1:27:36 AM Sorry, one more thing. This Congress.org site isn't even the "real" Congress website. It's: Congress.org is a service of Capitol Advantage, a private, non-partisan company that specializes in facilitating civic participation. It is powered by the award-winning CapWiz™ system. So yeah...I'm done. |

Wednesday, May 26, 2004 1:25:17 AM Weird, sorry.Even Rengal, the guy who proposed it, doesn't think it'll pass. Also, in Rag's link Rumsfield is quoted as saying: "I don't know anyone in the executive branch of the government who believes that it would be appropriate or necessary to reinstitute the draft," Rumsfeld said last month |

Wednesday, May 26, 2004 12:21:01 AM Well, I don't know about that, groove. (Can I call you grove?) Just because there may not be activity (and are you sure there isn't activity) dosn't mean they still aren't considering it. Bush already has all the Draft Boards filled. Their in a state of operational readiness. And they have been for months now. More then that, the Draft talk has been ratching up lately. Senator Dumbface (I forgot his name, but he had a dumb face) spun it this way; "It's time we stop having war be fought only by the poor, and let the rich kids prove their worth," or some such bullpoo-o-o-o-o-p. Oh, and 32 year old guy? Their talking about extending the Draft for wemon. . . and 34 year olds. Don't belive me? As they say in the early ninties; chigaty-check-yo-self, before you wrigaty-wreck-yo-self:http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/national/1... And. . . now its time to poop your pants. |

Tuesday, May 25, 2004 11:07:03 PM I'm almost completely sure that those two bills were killed a long time ago, since there hasn't been any activity with them since before the Iraq Invasion and Occupation. Also, those websites cited about the selected service do not show what the article claims they do. |
