Look into European history, especially from the 16th century (i.e. after Protestantism). Conflict between different versions of Christianity was a factor, sometimes the sole cause, in most of the war, oppression and tyranny that went on. It was also the reason for the Inquisitions. The fighting over what was real Christianity started right away, as far as we can tell. There were at least 3 Christianities in the early years, with the Pauline being the eventual winner. Almost everything thought of as Christianity today either goes back to Paul (not Jesus) or is a later add-on from other religions to ease conversion (also not Jesus, obviously). So pretty much every version of Christianity today does not have its roots in Jesus - so are any of them real Christianity? |

Note left for passive-aggressive "Christian". "Yes, my car is very cool but the problem that I continue to have is that Gospel music just doesn't have the "oomph" that Marilyn Manson's albums do. If you have better bands, by all means, recommend them but another note like this on my car and I'll ensure you actually get to hear some Marilyn Manson rather than just hear about him. P.S. True. Real Christians are rare. Doesn't really mean that those who have actually read the Bible and do try to live the way Jesus taught should be considered the same as the "Christians" who routinely judge others and spew hatred. |
