from a technical standpoint, it's absolutely amazing that that's all on solid piece of marble. Just think, that started as a huge block, and the sculptor chiseled away until he had a strikingly accurate femal figue standing in front of him. WOW. |

I'm kind of on the kid's side, I don't necessarily want to see a naked woman with linguine hair and unnaturally spherical breasts and Cupid with a little stone micropenis poking out all cold and flaccid from his flabby groin. Some pretentious twit will probably chime in and chastise me for my inability to appreciate great art and call me a feeble-minded American rube, though. |

but doesnt the fact that the sculpture is covering her genitals and breasts mean that she is ashamed of her nudity? therefore this sculpture is not trying to show innocence in her lack of clothing at all. so to the people saying that the nudity is not a big deal, wasnt the sculptor trying to say the opposite? |

I am going to guess this is in america. children there are being raised with f'ed up Mickey Mouse idols.YES its a sculpture of a naked person. under those clothes, you are ALSO a naked person. and so is the person next to you. It's just skin, ppl. cloths are mkade for warmth and "cool" styles. today they are used mostly for consealment. quite odd I think. LazyMe484, i don't understand your comment... The astists sculpt the marbl sculptures from a big block. They don't "build" them, they hamer, cut and grind them. that means they "form" them from big blocks. |
