Monday, June 08, 2009 2:02:41 AM AI are only somewhat clever in car games. Then, their task is relatively simple, one isn't flooded by complex tasks such as copying body movements realistically. That said, they often suck at this simple task too. I am looking at you Polyphony Digital and their Gran Turismo. You are driving a heavy, high power machine. You slide in neatly, predictably and carefully in in front of an opponent, and what happens when you come to a corner? You brake early, because of your vehicle's mass, and the little bastard AI who has superior braking capabilities, rams you mercilessly from behind. It's as if they asume that all opponents have the same skill, alertness and performance (braking, accelerating and handling). |

Monday, June 08, 2009 12:44:51 AM Oh I so agree, I would LOVE to kill game children. Mainly because it'd be a new angle on my murderous rampages of NPC Mowdowns, and before you people start waving the "Insanity Flag" I know the line between fantasy and reality here. What I like in AI is the options you can have with them. FFXII had VERY advanced AI, you programmed it yourself with things called Gambits. You could really rely on your team that way. |

Sunday, June 07, 2009 11:05:42 PM Ha... I love this article. I can completely relate with the AI. Want my own personal story? No? To frigin' bad.I start going on a rampage on fallout 3, killing everyone in megaton. Jericho is with me, and all is fine- but then I run out of ammo. Angry, I pull out my chinese officer's sword and start swiping some more. After we finally kill everyone, the brahmin is left, so I swipe at him. What does Jericho do? "Oh f*** no, I don't take that sh** from nobody!" And turns hostile towards me. Brahmin lover. :| Oh and Mornaf, if you'd like to kill kids in a game, get fallout for the PC and download a mod that makes them killable. Or enter a psych ward. I'd prefer you do the latter, but that's just me. :P |

I hate working my butt off to beat a game and not being able to save your accomplishment!!!!!! So crappy."I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels this way, in fact you just summed up my feelings of the entire Zelda series |

Sunday, June 07, 2009 3:25:23 PM Videogamer, not in the slightest. Now if I can kill the NPCs around her and save anywhere I want, the princess may as well learn a new hobby because I'm not coming for her for a long time. XD |

Sunday, June 07, 2009 2:52:24 PM I love exploring games, like Windwaker and such. I can detach from the main linear story and go elsewhere. It's the ADD, I swear. There's nothing so satisfying as being able to say: "Okay I found the three crystal keys, I need to put them into the Door Of Unnatural Food Hell and oh wait...what's that way over there? Screw the princess let's poke it with a stick!" It's FUN! :D |

Sunday, June 07, 2009 1:34:24 PM RecycleElf:That might actually be more preferable than the end of a lot of Zelda games, where it just kinda says "I WON!!" and then makes you press reset or (in later games) returns you to the title screen. I was disgusted at how happy I was that Wind Waker let you wear the lobster shirt after you beat the game and started a new one, when a lot of games that have +1 starts basically let you keep stuff that wasn't story related and either turn you into a rape machine or up the difficulty level to compensate. |

Sunday, June 07, 2009 1:16:31 PM I personally love cutscenes. They're little rewards dotted all through a game to say "grats you did goood. Rest your twichy game hands for a sec, and watch the eyecandy CGI." |

Sunday, June 07, 2009 12:50:33 PM StphnHrrll, heard about Oblivion: The Elder scrolls? After beating the final boss --*spoiler allert*-- Nothing happends. nothing. not even a "congratulations, you just defeated evil for ever!!1!!" nothing happends, you leave the evil obvilion gate and return to the normal world. you can go ahead and complete all the side-quests and stuff. but nothing really happends. Thats almost fine actually, its just that, its not really much satisfaction, you sort of feel like nothing really has been done since everything is back to normal...

Sunday, June 07, 2009 11:52:55 AM No then you can start another game and play all again. I'll use Zelda as an example. Ocarina of time took a great deal of time from me to beat it the first time around and it was just so unsatisfying to beat him and then start your game up again at your last saved spot. I would like to be able to go back and see the villages repaired, Hyrule Castle as it's supposed to be and bask in my winning. |

It's like playing Grand Theft Auto after you've cleared all the missions, killing people gets boring quickly, unless you're some sort of messed up sadist. |

Sunday, June 07, 2009 11:15:44 AM I agree with Lukas. Bethesda is doing very well, even in light of these problems. Can't wait for elder scrolls V. |

Sunday, June 07, 2009 10:49:41 AM Red Faction Guerilla will probably fix #4, from what i saw... every bit of every building is destructible, the only thing i didn't see was destructible was the vehicles... (which was kinda lame) but other then that, looks like you can smash a building down like a house of cards... |
