Don't get me wrong here, I'm personal against these 'fashion statements', but come on one is entitled to freedom of expression, or is that policed as well like every thing else in the States?

when did Flint Police Department become involved with fashion, and start policing that as well?

Btw, I sag my pants, but that's because I have long legs and a short torso and if I wore my pants at my waist it'd look like I was an old granpa with my pants up around my armpits. Not a good look

What I absolutely hate is when someone has a belt on, yet their pants are still hanging around their ankles. Then, of course, their legs can really go too far so they walk like a damn retard. Hate getting stuck behind these freaks in an aisle or hallway anywhere. Makes me wanna yank their pants down and boot their ass.
Although I love the idea of a law forbidding this, I know it's not exactly right. It just goes against many things... It's all been said already, so blah...

"Baggy clothing makes it easier to mask concealed weapons."

Just ask our friend Plaxico. But it also makes it easier to slip and then go off when you try to grab it, narrowly missing your junk and even worse, maybe killing an innocent bystander.

I agree with the law though. If your butt's hanging out you're basically mooning everyone around you.

That's crazy that they're enforcing how to wear jeans. Isn't that like communism or something? It just seems a bit much. I could understand this being a rule in school, but not a full-on law. And how come a slight arse crack is banned but g-strings on 14-year-olds aren't?

I thought baggy trousers came from there being no belts in prison, so if your jeans appear to be falling down, then you actually have a prison look that makes you 'Gangsta' or whatever. Ah well. I could be wrong. For all I know it could all have been invented by MC Hammer in an attempt to avoid you touching this.

I don't think anyone hates the whole baggy pants "fashion" trend more than I do.

I have to laugh at those who have posted that B.S. about inmates "advertising their sexual availability".

Nothing could be further from the truth. That little tidbit of misinformation was a rather weak attempt at getting kids to stop doing it.

The real reason for the baggy pants and long, untucked shirts comes from the street gang culture. Baggy clothing makes it easier to mask concealed weapons. I don't remember exactly when it was (early '90's I believe), LAPD officers from the Rampart Division detained several members of the Nine-O Crips clique during a gang sweep.

While they were being searched, the Police officers were rather amazed to discover that six of the Nine-O Crips they had detained had secured AK-47's to their legs that were not visible on cursory inspection due the bagginess of their pants.

Rman1201:

This doesn't violate the first amendment; which is

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

How is (or almost) committing indecent exposure considered freedom of speech? It's not. Walking around wearing a t-shirt that says "People Should Eat Aborted Fetuses" in America is legal, because that's exercising your right to "Freedom of Speech".

i understand why people would find the saggy pants look offensive, but to relate it to a hip hop/rap trend is unfair. i sag my pants sometimes, but thats because i find it more comfortable. kids at my school and other schools make fun of it, so its not like its some sort of trend anymore. its slowly disappearing, and the only thing that this law will do is encourage rebellious behavior in my generation.
