The only thing wrong with homosexuals is that they upset the status quo and introduce new ideals that many people are not willing to tolerate. You can argue that anal sex is unnatural, but straight couples have anal sex too and more and more married couples today are not having children, getting abortions, etc. As for raising children, you cannot assume that a child raised by two men will grow up confused. I grew up essentially without anyone and I would much rather have two gay men or women as parents. I think a child raised in an ignorant, intolerant household has more of a disadvantage in life than one raised by loving parents, regardless of sex or sexual orientation. The real problem with American society is the divorce rate and children growing up in a divided household and being torn between two parents. IMO, homosexuals improve American society and culture.

I for one think a lot of the people who want to "ban" same sex marriage think that it will make people stop being homosexual. I myself am a single mother of two girls, I'm straight, but if one of them prefers females to males I am not going to treat them any different. There is nothing wrong with it in my eyes. Everyone is different. A lot of homosexuals knew they preferred the same sex before they were out of grade-school, I know a few of my friends did. In some cases, they were born the way they are, in others they were abused or treated so badly by the opposite sex that they no longer trust them.
Just because a person is in love with someone that is the same sex as them, that doesn't make them inhuman. There are even ANIMALS that mate with the same sex, it's not just humans. It's something that is found in nature, so exactly what makes it unnatural? I understand if it's not your thing, YOU aren't going to be married to a homosexual, so let them get married in peace!

Right, so, I'm for gay rights (silly term though that is), but I don't think the courts were wrong here. They weren't ruling over whether Prop 8 in its entirety should be kept; the only issue had to do with the actual word "marriage."
Soon, Californians will return to the polls, and, most likely, the whole thing will swing back towards gay rights and blah blah drama. Can't we just get the government out of marriage entirely? That makes a whole lot more sense..

Also, oceanbeast, it does indeed take balls to stand up for what you believe in when it's not popular. You have every right to express your opinion, and I hope you ignore those who bash you just for thinking differently :3. This coming from a gay furry who, obviously, completely disagrees with you.

please i would love to have a discussion with somone who will use empirical and philosophical arguments to defend the gay point of view while i will do the same against it.

arent we still in America? can't we discuss without trying to belittle me with insults?

i as i have stated am not homophobic as i am in no way in fear of gays, second its funny how i have yet to insult anyone yet i have already been called a name like 3 times but that's ok. and i don't wish any harm to anyone. but like murder and pedophilia is wrong i will also raise my child not to be brainwashed into thinking same sex relationships are ok.

xcorpusvilex - i have nothing to say to you, wish upon me what you will, i have cursed no one wished nothing on anyone just stated my opinions which are quite prominent in our society, just not spoken loudly. gay activist groups are very loud but i will speak just as loud.

it takes alot more balls to stand in a room and say i oppose gay marriage, gay lifestyles, gay whatever than it does to be quiet or join the bandwagon.

ears arent meant for piercing, either, but i dont see anyone going off about that.

gay men arent the only people who engage in anal sex, believe it or not.

and if THAT is the problem, then what about lesbians? they dont use any holes for unnatural purposes.

apoet- by 'gay lifestyle' i meant acting on your feelings, ie. having same sex partners, being ok with the thought of having same sex partners, accepting the fact that youre attracted to the same sex or identifying as homosexual.

oh and another thing that bites me.

the term homophobic, the work phobia is of greek origin and means fear.

philosophy = philo (love) sophy (wisdom) in other words the love of wisdom or knowledge.

alot of people throw that term around like they know what it means, it does not mean hatred of gay people, if anything it would be fear of them if you wana stretch it.

"Marriage is a bond of love between man and woman for the purpose of procreating without sin in the eyes of the Lord. It is not a tax loophole for gay people."

i will despise the day i have to sit my little kid down and explain to him that the 2 men he saw giving eachother PDA's is not ok. because it isn't and thats how i will raise him, you are a new wave trying to push these fallicies on society.

and guess what im about to say something that will really piss alot of people off.

only 2% of men are gay in the united states, yet 35% of all pedophiles are gay. so don't point the finger until you read the facts.

we are on a slippery slope though if gay marriage is allowed look up "Pedophile Protection Act"

your just trying to normalize things that directly affect our societies values.

overweight people are soo not accepted dude are you kidding me? being fat which by the way isnt only caused by gluttony is grounds for discrimination to this day.

you are all bandwagoning on something you perceive to be a just cause, if anyone can marry anyone is polygamy next? i suppose thats ok too since its concentual and amongst adults? everything is ok? i sense you'll either defend yourselves by satying im on a slippery slope or saying they also have the right to do whatever they want.

you all can't see that society is crumbling and it has to do alot with promiscuous behavior. we are now supplying more welfare and foodstamps than ever, because people can't keep it in their pants.

you are all trying to deny me my voice, thats what i dislike the most. unlike disagreeing on politics, religion, laws, it seems that i am just not allowed to express my views freely. I OPPOSE YOUR MOVEMENT.

i will not allow my child to grow up thinking that being gay is OK

It should never be illegal to get married to the one you love.

"you all seem to not want to or just plain disregard that our bodies are not meant for gay intercourse."

We're also not meant for cramming artificial fats and salts of fast food into our bodies, but that does not stop the millions of religious and non-religious people who do so. Immorality is relative to situations and more importantly, opinions. People tend to pick and chose what from the bible they want to believe and what they think should be ignored. An example of this is how many Americans do not think twice about shoving that burger down their throat everyday (which our bodies are not meant for), but become enraged when someone engages in supposedly promiscuous sexual behavior. I'm not saying it is paramount to be a perfect Christian or Muslim or Jew and follow every doctrine, but it seems silly to me how people can just ignore a doctrine (like gluttony) because it has become socially acceptable.

oceanbeast, the argument in question is whether homosexuals have the right to marriage. If gay marriage remains banned, that will not decrease the number of gay couples, therefore has no affect on the amount of immorality in the U.S. However, if gay marriage were to become legal, the only ostensible effect would be a content class of people and a prime example of the tolerance that this country so proudly boasted throughout its existence. In short, whether it is called "marriage" or "domestic partnership" has no bearing on the morality of America. I believe your points would only come into fruition if a much larger population were to become homosexual. As it stands, the only problems the people of this country would face if gay marriage became legal are philosophical and religious.

In a hypothetical situation, isn't it irrelevant to your and the population at large's well being if your gay neighbors are legally married or not?

I'm glad they upheld the ban. For one thing, it was already voted for. If they don't like it suck it up. I didn't vote for Obama but its not like I'm appealing that, just have to wait till 2012.

and because i feel something is immoral isn't passing judgment on you personally, we all have prejudice and judgmental thoughts all day it's what you do with them that makes the difference.

i do not hate anybody for being gay i don't hate gay people. i think their ACTIONS are immoral. and im not trying to stop anyone from doing anything this is my opinion why the uproar when i speak out against the many who support gay people?

i judge no one and by no means have I, iv'e only stated facts and philosophical arguments to support my side.

there are people out there who believe it or not need to hear what i have to say whether YOU like it or not.

and the catholic church clearly has spoken out about the crusades, pedophilia, and homosexuality.

and believe me we are all just dust in the wind.

p.s. i dont hate you or anybody.

i respect everyone's opinion but will state my own views.

oceanbeast: Im bisexual, and if my nature is evil, immoral, sinful, then when i die, God will judge me, and only he.

Tell me, are you a god fearing man, or are you arrogant enough to believe that you KNOW his divine will.

After tonight, all you will be is a forgotten memory. But i will be a thing you hat until the day you die. You will go into hell hating, and i will go into heaven know that i made the choice that seemed right. That i took responsibility for myself, and not blamed it that i thought that it was what he wanted.

Bible Bashers:

Adam and Eve did not get married, had incest (sin) multiple times, sins of the father, so we are all going to hell.

Anal sex for men: Prostate when touch, is able to induce orgasm. If god didn't like gay sex, he would have put it where no rooster could ever touch.

The paedophile priest who was protected by THE CATHOLIC CHURCH. Now that is immoral.

Where in the bible does it say that paedeophilia is a sin (not those quotes which can be interpreted in a million different ways). That is immoral.

If you think that you can just choose not to be gay, then try being gay when you are blatantly hetrosexual, just to see how EASY it is.

If you need the bible to tell what is right and wrong, then you are without a soul to not be able to decide for yourself.

And tell me honestly that you dont get turned on about thinking about sex with two girls

God is good and the devil is evil. Hate is evil. If god can hate, then he and satan are the same.

Who can ever know gods d

"I'm still a bit let-down by I-A-B because 18 percent of us is homophobe (also retarded)."

viscious liar, although i support same sex marriage,(as i believe there is no point in stopping it) your the retarded one. Its a voting poll moron. People are allowed to say that they "dont believe in same-sex marriage". Who the hell are you to say that your opinion is right? This is to find out peoples opinions, not to judge them (which btw isnt exactly doing anyone any good) just vote, shut the hell up, and stop being a condescending non-nice individual. Also look up the definition of homophobe, i think you'll see how much of an ignorant twat you are.

"Don't call it marriage."

If one can get MARRIED by a judge (with absolutely no religious ties), why is this such a huge argument? If gay marriage is against the oh so almighty (see: sarcasm) Bible, then, by your standards, anyone not married by a priest or pastor shouldn't be considered married? God you people completely and totally stump me with your way of thinking. It's horrendous and you should be ashamed. Don't religions preach unity and love? Wtf, religion, w..t..f.
