If this Prop 8 had been on the ballot any other time, it never would have passed.

That's the thing though. Back then, slaves were not considered human. But considered human or not and despite whatever harm it could have caused to politics, you can't say they were not physically harmed.
So who is being harmed, physically, by same-sex mariage?

There's nothing "liberal" about standing for equality.

"Primetime: My question is this then: Unlike slavery, whom is gay marriage harming?"

Well lets go back to the unlike slavery. No one considered the slaves people. If you look at the amendment that gave them the right to vote (15th?), it was only approved because the South legally had to vote in favor of it, no Northern state was in favor of it. In addition they didn't try to remove slavery from the South, they just wanted to remove it from the new territories. So the removal of slavery was actually an attempt to harm Southern Political power.

Vindictive, you are true to your namesake. I love that so many have pointed out your paradoxical statements. People like you arguing with other people like you, but with opposite viewpoints, are the cause of problems between humankind.

no, commitment just provides the challenges that cause a same sex relationship to falter. commitment is really just a struggle between your love for yourself and your love for your partner.

"You think it's wrong? You think it goes against your religion? You think it's disgusting? Fine. But don't punish others for your way of thinking. I'm sure you believe in human rights. Or am I wrong? "

Well...to be fair, couldn't the same thing be said for abolitionist? I mean they didn't have to try to stop slavery from spreading, and constitutionally speaking, they had legal rights to keep them.

Yes I have heard of Affirmative action. It leveled what was a biased playing field.

So you're saying, Amaq, that because you think it's so "simple," commitment is impossible? Could you go out and fall in love with a man right now?

CrackrJak that is patently untrue.
You think we live in a society where people are rewarded for their minority status. When in fact we live in a society that has a history of abusing minorities. From slavery to voting rights to housing to schooling to imprisonment. Sentencing rules, racial profiling the list goes on and on. But you want everyone to believe it's the poor heterosexual white man who's been hurt. BooHoo to you, the KKK's out of fashion?

And from what I heard the gay bars don't keep you out.

Amaq: Why is it that the religions all of a sudden have some sort of copyright on marriage?
And you think it's easy to love the same sex? People are people and people are different. Now, unless you're implying that all women are exactly the same, or all men are exactly the same, I don't see how that argument holds up. And if that is what you are implying, I'm afraid I would have to disagree with you. If loving the other sex was so simple, no same-sex couple would ever break up.

""Racial Integrity Act of 1924""
That was then overturned by Loving v. Virginia.

Ok I was taking I shower, can I still get my marshmellow's?
