No, we are all free to embrace our inconsistent beliefs - the beauty of being human. But I view any Christian who speaks of certainty as having missed a central Christian value - doubt.

If Mother Teresa doubted God's existance, anyone who speaks of certainty is merely concealing their own fear of uncertainty. Thus - gay bashing - they are different! I am afraid of doubt! They MUST be bad! Get out of my head thoughts of gay!

I have seen some very disturbing material online, Goalie.

What exactly are you stating that I gave away?

Thanks.

Believe that a sugar plum fairy named Irkis is your god and she says gays are evil and go against her rules. Go ahead. I really couldn't care less.
Because there's this nifty thing called "Separation of Church and State." Some people like to overlook that.

So rubored, you mean taking it out of context like using a few small statements in a very old book that's been altered again and again over time to justify the persecution of a group of people without considering the basic message of the rest of said book or considering the historical context in which it was written. Taken out of context like that?

Add a "?" at the end of the big paragraph.

This debate seems to have turned religious.

In that case, here's a thought: Even if you believe the Bible is a bunch of malarkey and that Jesus is a fairy tale, something happened 2000 years ago that has completely and irrevocably altered the course of the planet. What do you think that was? Was it mass propaganda? Was it a secret plan by a select few to keep the money flowing? Or was Jesus real, he gained a mass of followers, had a huge impact, but wasn't really divine. Was he just a huge liar who manipulated all he came across and then died a horrific death as a poor man.

Or maybe none of those.

rubored - ok, you gave it away. You write too well to be ignorant of how "disturbing" people will be on a random internet forum. But hey, some people troll when bored, so thats cool.

Seriously, Crakr? That's what you've been arguing about all this time? I never refuted that. But, the point still remains that when this line is drawn, there is no reason whatsoever to exclude gays.

I just don't accept Christiany's main premise - that the Bible is the word of GOD, and not of man....Why inconsistent books? A perfect god would have written a consistent fricken book.

Quote all the passages you want - wonderful stories that have stood the test of time to be sure. But they hold no special import for me other than the lessons my own rationality devines. I need my mind to be moral, not god thank you.

"Yes, changes open the way for more changes."

Finally got you to admit that point.

Now, This amendment is needed in order to stop those changes before they become a threat to ordered society. If we make things clear now it will save a lot of strife later.

Just like the founding fathers should've included blacks as men with equal protections, Before the civil war killed hundreds of thousands of people.

That's taking it completely out of context, Agentk. It was referring to food primarily in the context if you read the entire scripture instead of the snippet I posted.

Your "interpetation" is just disturbing.

Jesus called the crowd to him and said, "Listen and understand. What goes into a man's mouth does not make him 'unclean,' but what comes out of his mouth, that is what makes him 'unclean.'"

So, I can put all the penises in my mouth I want and God is cool with it right? Ahaha

In other words, those dietary laws were only in effect during the Old Covenent.

Here's another good quote.

Jesus called the crowd to him and said, "Listen and understand. What goes into a man's mouth does not make him 'unclean,' but what comes out of his mouth, that is what makes him 'unclean.'"

So, that pretty much says you can eat anything, drink anything, but it's what comes out of your mouth, your words, your actions, etc which can make you unclean.

1 Cor 6:9 "Or do you not know that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals"

hmm, fornicators, adulterers, effeminate, even idolaters have all been given the right to marriage. shall we go ahead and take away those rights to them? i estimate the amount of marriages still left in the world if we did would be about 3

Yeah, because people 2000 years ago were SO elightened, lets quote their inconsistent writings from various inconsistent books of the Bible - THATS AUTHORITATIVE.

Most of that said in that image is from the Old Testament. It's different in the New Testament.

Much changed when God sent his son down to Earth to die for our sins.

Read the Bible yourself. You might learn something.

You know, as defined by the Bible and many laws, any non-procreative (real word?) sexual act is a sin.

I'm most likely going to stay single. It's too hard to stay married in the world these days..

Divorce rates are waaaaaay up. I'd have to be 110% sure that she's the one for me.

Marriage is a matter not to be taken lightly.

Dude, we got the whole foresight thing. It's not that difficult to see. Yes, changes open the way for more changes. But Homosexuals remain firmly in the group I keep mentioning—-consenting adults--that includes heterosexuals and interracial couples and NOT pedophilia, bestiality, or polygamy.

Your argument is , dare I say, weak and (by now) overused. Either introduce a new one or accept that it's senseless.
