Marijuana was made illegal in the first place because it attracted immigrants and caused places like California to become crowded with Mexican and Central American marijuana dealers. Congress did not like this growth in the south and west and the government paid for anti-marijuana campaigns and ads that attempted to make people believe that marijuana melts the skin and so forth. Tests by the government, however, proved that marijuana was not nearly as bad as they claimed--so they covered up the results. Legalizing marijuana might end this economic recession with the billions of dollars it could reel in. Marijuana is more important to this country than tobacco. |

Agreed, once again. Make it legal, and then maybe make loads more money on it, to stop the usage of the really dangerous drugs. Either that, or we stop being hipocritical about the damages of drugs and illegalise cigarettes, and maybe even alcohol. What's that? Can't the politicians take that? Oh, no, right, that's because they are smokers and some drinkers. |

tuxman4: Your first question might be a product of misleading do to the anti-marijuana propaganda of the school systems.
Secondly, it could be a new, more potent, or more strong and durable strain of marijuana for making better clothes, paper, ect. |

So many good points towards weed, personally I have trouble coping with stress brought on by anxiety attacks. Hand me a doobie, and you can send me anywhere. What stress? This CAN be used to treat minor mental disorders, as well as physical discomfort as we have obviously discovered. Any doctor who tells you otherwise is spewing garbage. The truth is that these "conspiracy theories" regarding why marijuana is illegal are basically true. They DID make it illegal because it was a direct competitor with heavy cash crops like cotton. The war on drugs is a failure, and needs to be completely rethought. Don't let your government get away with this garbage, tell your senator/MP/governor whatever you have, that marijuana should be legalized and regulated to ensure safe levels of potency to be used for proper treatment of ailments. |

Nice one, Davymid :DI live in holland too, and I'm still surprised it hasn't been banned yet. Holland is sometimes called a country of freedom, because soft drugs are legal, but there are so many other things that shouldn't have been banned that have been. Makes me kind of sad :( |
