Vorpal-Now that you have broken your arm patting yourself on the back and calling me an idiot...would you do us all a favor and explain the rationale of your arguements. As I fail to see using your "rainbow in the sprinkler" theorum and your "let's not do anything because we can't" logic relates to my first point which is don't be a meat puppet! In other words, I know this premise is outlandish but and here's the secret, your really should use your cognitive reasoning skills for other ventures aside from video games! I know pretty trippy stuff, huh?

All Dec 21, 2012 is when the Mayan calender reaches that date it 'zeros' out, some claim it stops. But from my own reading, research into this. I contend then the Mayan calender, is more like a car's odometer, when it get to the end of it's cycle it zero's out, and keep on going. And those that search for 'end times prophecies' have been fabricating such tales for centuries. As I stated earlier, its our hubris that will do us in. Not a some super solar storm, not a comet a meteor, not some naturally occurring disease, us humans, doing stupid human things that will us.

Davymid-Thank you for pointing out my grammatical error. As IAB is filled with English majors, I should have proofed my post before hitting send. You’re kidding me, right? Never mind that I used it correctly in the same paragraph prior…you’re going to point this out? Is that some attempt at showing that you’re superior? Which proves what? That I’m only human and can make a mistake! I also like how you failed to acknowledge the point I was making. Which is quite simply, “If you’re going to argue back it up with facts!” Which I have done every single time! You chose to ignore that very large point and throw in that you’re a PHD in Science. What? What college offers a PHD in Science? One would say I have a PHD in Physics or a PHD in Microbiology but a PHD in Science!

“p.s…you like how I incorporated “you’re” as many times as I could? Didn’t want you to think I’m a meat puppet.&

The Mayan (and Hopi) prophecies can be fulfilled 2 ways: A great event could happen that year (or on that specific day, Dec21 2012) that changes everything (or ends the world) OR some smaller event happens that, later on, we realize leads to world-changing events. It could be a physical or spiritual, changing or new beginning.
Or we might get smacked by a comet.
Anyhow, this is (iirc) the change from the 3rd world to the 4th world, so lets all cross our fingers and hope the fourth time's a charm!

which I'm pointing out again as it seems your to dense to understand, wasn’t about you at the time. Meat Puppets!!

I have a PhD in science. I'm a professional scientist. I absolutely guarantee I am not dense, nor a "meat puppet".

And I was not making an attack on you, nor was I making any comment on the validity of the video one way or the other. I'm a moderator, I was moderating, in this case pulling you up for making personal attacks on other users and then complaining when they attack you in return.

p.s. It's "you're too dense", not "your to dense".

Bored and Davey-But you see the difference in my statement and yours are that I back mine with grounded principles of physics. Further, I was making a general statement to those that had made commenst praising the Professor for his whit and charisma and not the substance of his arguement. You two on the other hand are talking to just hear yourself talk. If you’re not a meat puppet, in that you use your brain to reason with the information you are presented, then you should not have taken offense. But obviously, the fact that you did respond and did take offense, clearly show that you’re a meat puppet. As when I made that statement, I wasn't talking directly to you, you have now chosen to get directly into the discussion, which I'm pointing out again as it seems your to dense to understand, wasn’t about you at the time. Meat Puppets!!

peloos12-Actually that would be Professor John Cramer, of the University of Washington, who has already conducted a experiment on time travel vs just a theory. Who by the way, I have been to his home down by Lake Washington in North Seattle and have discussed his experiment a couple years ago. You might want to check out the article at:
Going for a blast into the real past Now he would be the true Father of Time

Yeah, come on guys. This is the man who has figuring out how to travel through time practically on his door step. Let's not take anything this kook says seriously or anything!

@boredest1: More than likely, since there is precedent and is a likely solar event. It is a real danger, but an avoidable one, much like pollution, over population, starvation, war, anything to do with money problems. Our greatest human weakness is our own hubris.

Maddog, suggest you don't whine about others making "ad hominem" attacks - you started it when you weighed in with "if you people weren't a bunch of meat puppets".

maddog3n, why would you accuse people of resorting to ad hominem attacks when you called them, and I quote, "meat puppets" and "Talking Monkeys?" Respect is earned, and your pseudo-scientific diatribe certainly earned you none at all.

Finally a good point made my someone with degrees to back it up (Dr. Tyson)

Just like Y2k, the world is not going to end in 2012, but after the mythical crisis (based on the fact that the Mayans didn't believe the earth would last this long, either that or were lazy) then people are going to predict the year 2023, then 2035, and next 2043. It's just going to keep going. There are predictions every decade or so that will keep occurring.

I don't know why people keep predicting something, do they really wanna be the one standing there like an ass hole saying "told ya so" as a meteor crushes them?

Yea, he does run his own planetarium, but I don't know about the pluto thing. I would hope he would keep pluto out of it. I mean, you wouldn't have socks in a Shoeatarium or Dinosaurs in a nascaritarium.

Yeah, that's the one I meant. I don't have any strong belief towards it, I just thought maybe this professor might have an opinion towards that as well.

Are you regarding the "mega" solar storm that MAY happen? That article also stated that could happen in 2023. As with any prediction, there is a degree of uncertainty. Anyone that believes in an absolute prediction of the future, probably also believe in the tooth fairy, santa clause, ufo's are of alien origin, and direct divine intervention in their daily lives.
