You should learn the words before you just throw them around. Did you mean to say "on the alignment of earth sun and center..." "It has do with the relative position of the Earth, in relation to it's position within the thickness of the disk of our Galaxy." English mothaf'r DO YOU SPEAK IT. Did you mean to say, 'The position of the Earth relative to the thickness of the disk of the galaxy'? The position of our tiny tiny planet in relation to something several lights across is hardly changing at all. Gravity is a tiny tiny force, don't worry. "As no orbit is ever absolutely perfect, there is wobble." Orbit and wobble are not related. Wobble is the result of 2 major gravitational forces (sun and moon in the case of the earth) at work on a non-spherical object (the eart |

Saturday, May 16, 2009 10:28:19 PM "Therefore, the gravitational forces affecting the Earth would be at their strongest not when it is at the the center of it it's orbit, but at the extreme. All of us are familar with centrifugal force, ie a merry-go-round."Gravity is a force whose strength is inversely proportional to it's distance, the farther you go, the less it pulls on you. Centrifugal force doesn't exist. It's a false force. Perhaps you mean centripetal force. I really hope you're just a troll. |

Saturday, May 16, 2009 9:43:13 PM Swine flu, Y2K, SARS, Bird Flu (avian flu), 2012. All the biggest pair of bollocks I ever met. Guys, the world is not going to end. I fail to understand why this has got any resemblance of credence among rational adults. I despair for the race. Hint: We're OK. |

Saturday, May 16, 2009 8:42:57 PM A special Me growing annoyed by someone post all the insults and contradictions of Maddog3n"if you people weren't a bunch of meat puppets" Ad hominem attack on all users who thought this guy was logical "Instead of attacking the facts of my argument you use ad hominem to prove your point." Saying that using ad hominem attacks are bad. "Ladies and Gentleman, I present too you, the Talking Monkeys!" Direct ad hominem attack on sugaman and TopperHey "But you see the difference in my statement and yours are that I back mine with grounded principles of physics." Where did you ever state grounded principles of physics? "clearly show that you’re a meat puppet." direct attack against Davy and Bored "I wasn't talking directly to you, you have now chosen to get directly into the discussion" you directly called anyone who thought this intelligent meat puppets originally continuing on next |

Saturday, May 16, 2009 8:33:39 PM Maddog, I'm banning you for two weeks, on grounds of Trolling. You're making arguments where there are none, and seemingly getting a rise out of it. Send the expected complaint letter/appeal to i_am_fancylad@yahoo.com. I will not delete any of the comments on this thread, so you can describe your case. When (if) you come back, I advise that you come back with a different attitude. |

Saturday, May 16, 2009 8:26:21 PM Davymid-To answer your statement, "....I don't hear many facts from you at all..." that would be because I have not heard any facts presented to counter my arguement!
You'll notice that I never once placed a statement on one side of the arguement or another. Like I said, I have a PhD in Geophysics (although you don't believe me and have personally ridiculed me for making such outlandish claims). I'm just trying to moderate here. ----- Davymid... As you don’t seem to understand what the comment “ad hominem” means and you like to be a stickler for correctness, Ad Hominem literally translates to “to hominem” or “to man”.
I took latin for six years. I know perfectly well what it means. |

Saturday, May 16, 2009 8:26:16 PM Maddog: The way I see it, you began your argument not as a civil discussion but by antagonising everyone of the opposing view. Which pretty much means you're not going to convince anyone because you've already got them off side. And, because this is the internet, you are inviting childish insults by doing that. Admittedly I don't have a psychology degree or 'facts' to back this up (as a scientist you would know there is no such thing as facts, but an argument is backed with evidence). However from observing your comments and everyones reactions I think I'm pointing out the blatantly obvious. |

Saturday, May 16, 2009 8:18:05 PM maddog....gravity doesnt add or build up because of alligned bodies of mass...therefore everything you are saying is wrong. No, we might not know what is going to happen in 2012, but we do know what isnt. |

Saturday, May 16, 2009 8:16:38 PM There are 4 empty soda cans, 2 empty soda bottles, two empty water glasses, and another half full waterglass on my desk. I also see a broken itouch, a working itouch and an opened pack of batteries with no batteries removed. I just stuck my foot in my bowl of popcorn. CRAP! |

Saturday, May 16, 2009 8:11:49 PM Almightybob-Forgive my stupidity, I did not make myself clear in that initial post. The radii that I am referring to has to do with the Sun being at the center of it's wobble in relation to the center of the X axis of the Galaxy. So if you consider the eccetricity of the wobble, the greater gravitional force is applied not when it is the center of the median but when it at it's extremes. Hence, why I was saying the good Professor was disingenuous in saying this happens every year. It only happens every 26,000 years. Which also coincides with a complete orbit of our Sun around the galaxy. Again let me be plain in saying I have nor does the Professor have any idea what is going to happen. Why? No one was around to record the last time this event occurred. Anyone who tells you otherwise if full of themselves, wants to sell you something, or is naive. They can hypothesize all they want but that is just it, it a hpyothesis. |
