Thursday, May 07, 2009 11:35:21 AM ... happy. It's true, the employees don't care, because the management doesn't care. The customers treat the employees like crap, the management treats the employees like crap. So why should the employees care? |

Thursday, May 07, 2009 11:32:35 AM They say that confession is good for the soul; well lets see. I currently work at wal-mart. This has been, by far, the worst mistake of my life. The management treats many of the employees like mindless, mentally handicapped children. Since working there I have been fussed at for practically every aspect of my personality. I’m too talkative, I say what’s on my mind, I form and hold an opinion of my own that is in complete opposition of HELLMART, I treat the customers like flawed people, and not like Gods. Since working there I have been on probation since day one. I have had other jobs in the retail field, and never have I been treated with such insolence. Never have I been made to feel debased. And the customers know this. They know, that they can get away with anything, as long as they are customers. I joke with the customers saying that I would trade this job for what is behind door number one. I can’t even think about going to work and even fake being |

Thursday, May 07, 2009 11:22:33 AM most retail people don't get paid enough to even care about your issues. and sure sometimes idiots get hired and the employers dont bother training people half the time. so if u dont like the service that u get. to drating bad! you try doing their job. and both walmart and target suck might horse dick. but walmart has better poo and lower prices. ive been through plenty of either store and walmart is always better |

Thursday, May 07, 2009 6:05:23 AM @ pat125 - Totally. People walk in with pooty attitudes and expect to be treated like cream. I'm sorry, if your going to stand there and spit a sentence in my face, then don't expect me to give 100% effort to you. |

Thursday, May 07, 2009 4:10:16 AM I took my Japanese friend to Walmart in the US once and the cashier didn't even look at her while she paid for make-up. She was talking with her coworker at the other cashier the whole time and never said a word during the transaction. There are plenty of bad customer service examples in Japan as well, mostly involving a lower employee getting another equally inexperienced employee to handle your concern, saying they are the "manager". But it was a pretty big difference to what she was used to. Just one example. Bad customer service exists everywhere.

Wednesday, May 06, 2009 11:10:22 PM There is a reason most retail employees don't give a sh*t. Sure, some are morons, but most simply aren't paid enough to care about a general public that is, on the whole, stupid enough to be classified as mentally disabled. When you enter a store and get nasty with the guy behind the counter because your Sony TV busted after 5 weeks, you can fully expect to get an uncaring attitude, because it's Sony's fault, not his. I speak from experience. As someone who used to work retail, I was ALWAYS helpful to the people who greeted me politely and had some semblance of intellect. If some fat slob approached me and asked me an asinine question, I couldn't care less if they were satisfied with their service. If you're polite, most employees will be polite back. That's the way it works. |

Wednesday, May 06, 2009 9:24:40 PM So this person obviously had a bad experience with Target one day and went home to their computer and made an attempt at humor? JezusFu*kingKrispyCreamingChrist, just do your shopping, don't bug the employees, and GTFO! |

Wednesday, May 06, 2009 8:44:33 PM hmmm....go to target, get people who speak english and actually dress decent (khaki's and red shirt), plus most of the people there are VERY helpful. OR we can go to wal-mart who is full of people who only speak spanish, so the people who don't know it can't get any help meanwhile families of 20 who ONLY speak spanish get free stuff. I'll take target. never got to wal-mart after 9 unless its 2 or 3 in the morning. at 9 all but 2 registers are closed, even if you're in their line they close and walk away, plus everyone and their mother is trying to check out. I have never gone in after 9 and gotten out in under 30 minutes, this is from 9 until midnight. and for some reason, parents are there with their crying babies and toddlers...heads up, they're crying because they're tired!!! |

Wednesday, May 06, 2009 8:23:01 PM It's literally you get hired and after filling out paperwork and watching videos that are totally unrelated, you're put on the floor and asked everything under the sun. Not to mention that there is no one in the departments around you and now your not only trying to tend to your area, but your doing stock, doing three other full sections and trying to help a lady who knows only that she needs the thing that you put onto the colander, but no idea what its called or anything else about it. Granted, there are employees who suck and basically get paid for standing around, I have seen my fair share of rude employees. But it sucks when those of us who are helpful and cordial and try to the best of our ability get crapped on by people who are all too quick to make judgements. I say to everyone who judges retail employees: I'd like to see you do it for two days. Then tell me what you think. |

Wednesday, May 06, 2009 8:17:17 PM I love how people are all quick to judge others who work in retail. I mean how often do you go into a store and think to yourself, 'gee this isn't rocket science - what is everyone here mentally retarted?'How many of you actually give thought to the fact that not every person in that store knows where EVERY SINGLE ITEM is? Or that maybe it's a persons first day? Or even stopped and thought, 'Gee Maybe I could have explained what it was I was looking for a bit better?". Logically, retail stores are big and carry 1000's of pieces of merchandise. Granted, the people that work there should be familiar with where everything goes, but If I work in the auto section, don't expect me to know where you can find flat toothpicks, or the difference between kellogs cereal and general mills. The truth is a lot of those workers don't really get any training. They just get hired and thrown into the mix of things. |
