ok so the reason the cop is not in jail is because her dad did not die from the seizure
but what if he did die because of the delay? is the chief still going to smile to the camera and negotiate for their incompetency?

yah i saw this on youtube a day ago...i must have left like 4 long posts just saying how wrong this is and how it truly pisses me off...REALLY pisses me off... the cop was wrong in every possible way. period. he doesn't deserve to be cop. i only hope that karma comes knocking on his door soon... |

I hope she didn't drop charges. That ass-bite needs to be fired without pension and have this follow him for the rest of his life. Good luck getting another job after you placed someone's life at risk.Who is he to discipline her? Freedom of speech means nothing apparently. What's his address? I'm gonna go knock someone out. |

TopperHey -Depends on the setup and agreements between the local emergency services... In my county, 9-1-1 calls from landlines go to the local agency that jurisdiction over the billing address (so if they are in a city, goes to the city police, other wise the county sheriff's office). If its a cell 9-1-1 then it can go to either the California Highway Patrol, or the local agency w/ jurisdiction over the cell tower location (not necessarily where the caller is at)... So half the time the hardest part is figuring out where the caller is and who they need to speak to. |

As an emergency services employee I get to hear the big bad swear words every day... Its hard not to cry to my mommy cause someone said "f*ck"... okay not really. Dude was stupid, and is very much liable for delaying anyone from emergency medical care. Not sure what state this is, but there is a code section in California for 9-1-1 misuse, 653(y) of the penal code (which this case is not), but its only an infraction.

Although I agree with the decision to suspend the officer, the girl seemed to be more concerned with complaining to him than her father having a seizure. only once on that call back did she even ask if the ambulance was going to be sent. I put both at fault... |

to me it just seemed like she was being a self centered brat during those calls. To her defense, however, she is a teenager. Maybe i'm just forgetting (or ignoring) what *I* was like at that age. |

There are lots of great cops, but you won't hear about them. The story would be like "Cop does his job, and is not a dbag." Not a very interesting story. |

BlankTom: she probably wasn't entirely thinking straight due to the shock of the situation, plus was blind-sided by the policeman's complete ignorance of her plight. Either way, it was the policeman's job - as a (supposedly) impartial party, who wasn't currently looking at a member of his family fitting on the floor - to stay calm, and impart calm, a job at which he entirely failed. Plus what a hypocrite - his language wasn't exactly soapy either. |
