Wednesday, April 22, 2009 11:45:14 AM yeah is the universe is as infinite as they say then is bound to happen even if the odds are 10000000000000000000000 to one, theres a lots more of those in infinity... |

Wednesday, April 22, 2009 7:09:06 AM Aliens on the moon. Seriously? Do any of you really believe that? That's just ridiculous. But, I do think there are others out there -- it's basically statistically guaranteed ("There are on the order of 100,000,000,000 (one hundred billion) galaxies in the universe, as far as current telescopes can detect. Some of these galaxies may hold up to 100,000,000,000 stars, but most galaxies probably contain at least 10,000,000,000 stars.") So that's 1.0 × 10^21 stars, each of which holds the possibility of planets circling around them. So it's basically guaranteed that others are out there. |

Tuesday, April 21, 2009 7:11:06 PM I can't wait until we become universal. From abduction stories I've read in a book about a psychologist from Harvard who hypnotizes so-called abductees.. he has found that aliens wanted peace with us and wanted to help us create a better environment.. apparently we are killing our civilization. We are looking down upon by them. We are lazy, selfish and ignorant. When the government sees alien ships they shoot them down.. i think that Roswell crash was actually us attacking them... to study them and such. Pretty stupid if you ask me. |

Tuesday, April 21, 2009 7:08:25 PM "not to mention the chances of evolution to create another being with humanoid features is also zero"totally untrue, as beings will evolve to match their environments. If they have trees with branches, and predators on the ground, almost certainly a primate like creature would have limbs and gain opposable thumbs and start climbin the poo out of some trees. If theres tall grass and predators lurking through it, of course an animal would evenutally evolve legs and backs that allow them to see over the grass. throw in an abundant source of easy protein and bam that primate like animal will eventually evolve bigger brains. We are the way we are because it worked. Millions of species but one design kicked ass. To sum all that up, I say if there is, was, or ever will be intelligent beings out there, they most likely would look very similar to us. Different, but similar. |

Tuesday, April 21, 2009 6:07:01 PM not to mention the chances of evolution to create another being with humanoid features is also zeroI firmly believe there are extraterrestrial beings in other galaxy's, just not like humans. They may be more advanced or less advanced, but for a creature to have the same trials while going through its evolutionary path is pretty much zero. There are no little green men running around in flying saucers, there were no aliens at roswell, and nobody on earth has seen a being from another planet. They are just crazy |

Tuesday, April 21, 2009 5:51:05 PM There is no question if life exists or has existed or will exist somewhere else rather than Earth in the universe. To a man any astrophyicsist will say it's as much of a mathematical certainty as any normally unlucky gambler could wish for. The issue is can they live the multi-multi generations in transit it would take to visit us? There is no homebase for such an interstellar traveler. Our rockets go 25,000 MPH. Traveling at 186,000 MilesPerSecond it mathematically takes many many generations of a life form permanently in transit for an astonishing length of time to even get to us. It is extremely unlikely that this has occured especially considering the mathematically improbabality that this alien space craft would have chanced upon us as opposed to the basically limitless possibility that they would have consistently steered their craft where there is no life. There is life elsewhere but the odds of a lifeform moving at 186,000mps and finding us is essentially zero |

Tuesday, April 21, 2009 5:49:02 PM As to the issue of Aliens, for upteen years I've heard that Neil Armstrong, First Man On The Moon, told a TV show that there were aliens on the moon, we were warned off and told to get back down to Earth and stay there, etc. I've never been able to find any video or audio to prove this claim, which seems incredible given how shatteringly important it is if true, so I suspect its another of those stories that Ufers pass around from a friend of a friend of a friend. Still, its interesting to note that no-one has been to the moon for almost 40 years now... |

Tuesday, April 21, 2009 5:46:56 PM Searched "tooth" and "nail" in that article, found nothing. Actually, I read the entire article, and it says nothing about what we're talking about. It tells about the Church's "options" in responding to Luther, but doesn't give the actual choices made, and certainly doesn't give anything with which we can speculate motives.Your take on the article? |

Tuesday, April 21, 2009 5:41:42 PM > Spirithound > the Catholic Church has always been pro-BibleCOUNCIL OF TOULOUSE - 1229 AD Canon 14. We prohibit also that the laity should be permitted to have the books of the Old or New Testament; unless anyone from motive of devotion should wish to have the Psalter or the Breviary for divine offices or the hours of the blessed Virgin; but we most strictly forbid their having any translation of these books.
Yeah, sure sounds pro-Bible to me Spirithound. I don't know how this debate about aliens turned religious, but to be fair, most Popes have granted Indulgences for people to read the Bible (that's like a Special Permission slip). So yes, you could read it, but no, the general population weren't supposed to except with special permission. On the other hand, its really non-Catholic-approved translations that were banned, not the Bible itself, in practice even if not in theory. |

Tuesday, April 21, 2009 5:35:51 PM Start hereYou can start with the above Spirithound. Honestly...everyone here has Google. I couldnt make this stuff up if I tried! As for my "contention"...well it's nothing more than historical truth. I simply deal in facts! I dont claim "ET" is real anymore than "God" is real! |
